The Sky MyAccount page is throwing 500s for me anyway

yep it will not load on my account either

Probably intense interest, which is interesting given the years of Sky hate threads/comments...

I think of you looked up your account this morning and then go and look at it now ( post 4pm ) you’ll find your deal for the new box is better , the site crashed earlier and my discount was $50 this morning but now is back to $150…..

However go with the $10 month option as that is the only one you’re covered for any ongoing updates re the box

cleggy2: Hopefully someone can confirm the remote still works with the new skybox

I can't promise anything, but on the New Sky Box, you can go:

My Hub

Android Settings

Remotes and Accessories

And under that is an option called Add Accessory. When clicked, it talks about making sure your new accessory has BT enabled.

IainD: Just had the misfortune to be on the waiting line for an hour to Sky to upgrade to the new box. Happened to speak to the most unhelpful person who was rude and downright obnoxious. When you have 4 decoders on the house, been a subscriber since 1992 , the customer service was a disgrace. Spoke to their supervisor and told them with both barrels. So with the added $10 onto my already huge subscription I know have a new box on its way by courier …..

Tread with trepidation people …….

Did you upgrade all 4 or just 1?
We have 3 and out through a request online which was incredibly painful!

I have a Harmony Ultimate all in one, and have been unable to teach it using the new Sky Remote, so it’s a no go at this point. Unfortunately the remote is discontinued so I think support is unlikely. I’m currently back to using two remotes as HDMI-CEC doesn’t seem to be fully compliant either.

I’m wondering if the new box is controllable with a harmony remote?

I have the exact same question.  Will my exiting Logitech Harmony Elite work with this new box?

No. The new sky remote is blue tooth only when controlling the devices. https://help.sky.co.nz/s/article/your-new-Sky-Box-and-Pod-remote

It only supports ir to enable the initial pairing of the remotes.

There is sofabaton which is available on amazon which supports both ir and Bluetooth. It is ir programmable like the logitech although they said they could control the new sky ipod. I have not bought one. Note a Bluetooth remote is not programmable.

So these Xray remote extenders are useless with the new box?

The Harmony remotes with the hub is Bluetooth capable. I use one to control my AppleTV. Should it therefore work with the new Sky Box once paired?

So my offer this morning after being a sky subscriber for 10 years is a $50 credit on my account if I sign up for the Sky Starter Package when I order the sky box.

I mean, I have had Sky Starter, Sports, Movies and Mysky for 10 years. I guess that doesn't count for anything...

I have been with Sky for 17 years and also only have a $50 saving.

I was told by customer service that upgrading to the new Sky box, I don't need to pay the extra $15 monthly for recording a month because I have already paid for it by purchasing the HDi Box for around $600

I was actually ringing up to cancel when I was told this and I said that might make me stay but I want to check out the new box anyway and she gave me 2 months at half price off my subscription but looks like they are still charging full price.

I am not paying and additional monthly cost for recording and if you have told me in error, I'll defiantly cancel

I am in same boat. They told me that the original $600 purchase does not apply to the new box so would need to pay $15/month. Although I think the support guy didn't know what I was referring to. I certainly won't be paying the equivalent of Netflix to have the function to record - which really should be free for all users, given the hardware is all capable of it, and there is no cost to Sky.

I think their records only go back 15 years, they told me I sign up in 2009 when in fact I sign up in 1993!!

I agree, back in the early days they wanted to charge an extra $15 a month for HD content, I wasn't interested and eventually they forced it on you and increased the subscription by $5 a month.

Isn’t the $15 recording cost ( as for the new box ) for the ability to record 5 channels at the same time while watching a 6th channel live at the same time ?
