HDMI Spitter doesn’t work with new Sky Box, so cant output signal to second TV in another room!

Worked fine with My Sky HD Box

It is likely that will be the new Sky Box enforcing HDCP.  Old Sky boxes did not enforce it - if the TV or splitter did not respond to HDCP, they just turned it off.  So it is likely that you need a splitter that will do HDCP on its input but not on its outputs, as it is not possible as far as I know to do HDCP to two different output devices at the same time.

It the laggy response that drives me insane.

Want to watch something that finished a little over an hour ago? Good luck with that. Everytime I think I've got it mastered........

Took me 20 minutes to get to the 2nd half interview of Musk by Carlson yesterday. I could've likely found it on YouTube quicker.

Are you talking about the Pod, and navigating to something that finished an hour or two ago, via the TV Guide?

If so - I've just tried that, and it took about twenty seconds to start watching something on UKTV from early this arvo.

From the TV guide, I cannot move the timeline to the left. Using the round directional button, left takes me into the left margin icons. I have to select the previous day and then scroll up/down to the channel then page through to the right until I find what was on. I've learnt I need to wait for a few seconds before pressing the OK button. Otherwise I need to go through the routine again. Cumbersome. The alternative is to press rewind and go make a cup of tea and bake some scones.

Old mySky and VTV? Find the channel and scroll left until you find the missed program and press play. Easy.

No RF option on new Sky Box as no RCA outputs.   1 x HDMI and thats it!

What was Sky thinking when they sourced these new boxes, NO OUTPUTS!!, what a disaster, The new Sky Box is useless to me now!!

I was going to cancel Sky but decided to give the new box ago but now my mind is made up.

If anyone figures out how to split the signal to go to a second TV, folks asked the same question as they have the Sky supplied RF modular going to the kitchen TV, I'd be keen to know.

If HDCP is enforced then that sinks the idea of using a splitter and HDMI over CatX.

It’s not intuitive, but if you scroll down to the channel you were after, and then press right to move onto the timeline you can then press left to start scrolling backwards from the current point in time. Much faster than what you’re currently doing, but it just needs you to jump into the actual timeline first.

So almost 48 hrs after I did the online order of the new box and no further news….. I log into my account on their web site and I get this message

Your new box order is in progress. Once that's complete you'll be able to make further upgrades in My Account.

Still obviously waiting for the email regarding my tracking number , Christ I could have gone to the office or depot myself and collected it there and then ……

Anyone else waiting and have the message I received as well ?

You mean no legacy outputs that 99% of the population stopped using 15yrs ago. Don't get me wrong, I love to partake in a good Sky bashing session, but excluding RF and RCA connections on a box released in 2023 is expected and not something they should need to answer to.

That it's 2023 and HDMI has been the standard for HD since 2004.

What about this How-to Bypass HDCP | Record ANYTHING Through HDMI - YouTube

I suppose I could invest another $400 for 2 more boxes for each other bedrooms but there would be a barrier somewhere with Sky

D**n right not intuitive. Been working as a tech for over 40 years and this must rate as one of the worst thought out interface system I've ever encountered. And I've worked with some doozies.

Would've much simpler if they'd gone for an IPTV format from the get go. Using that as their main landing page. For the inner geek, an editable EPG ability to manually add additional providers too.

IPTV (i.e. Sky Go+) would have been better than new boxes in my opinion - with an option for a Sky Pod for anyone that needed one to be able to use said service.

I have a basic splitter (Jaycar AC1710 I think.) It works on the Sky POD. It's a bit klunky, it takes several retries before connecting the second output, probably due to trying HDCP and then giving up as described above, but it's OK once up.

Thanks Don, but I think the Pods and Boxes are different, but I'll give that a go

I'm late to this thread, but my wife has just asked me for the third time if I want to pay Sky $50 for the new box.

So I skimmed the 55 thread pages and now agree with the many who've concluded that the money would be better spent on beer or chocolate.
