Lightbox: Please let me know if you've got any questions, feedback or comments - especially if you're one of the people invited to our beta.

Are you experiencing heavy load at the moment? Can't seem to play anything now...

Also, when using IE11 the warning for mixed content comes up when trying to play a show.

Yeah, looks like we just a spike in start up times. We'll get the tech boys looking at that. The load on the platform shouldn't really be a factor at the current scale, though.

We're trying to clear out the IE11 warning, it's not pretty.

Ok, I've changed the security settings for the Internet Zone to allow mixed content and the episode now starts playing with no problems - probably related, so might be nothing to see here (except get the mixed content sorted).

On another note, BINGE WATCHING! Any way you could change the player to be like Netflix and offer up the next episode available at the end? Currently it goes back to the season episode list at the end of playbak.

steve98: Your mobile site is missing the "login" button. Am in now main website. Nice UI but content is quite thin on the ground. Sherlock series 1? 30 Rock as the headline comedy? Your Doctor Who icon has the new doctor but then when you click on it it's only up to series 4. House of Cards is series 1, too. Is this indicative of the age of the content we can look forward to in the finished product? Hope not. I really want Lightbox to succeed if only to give Sky a much overdue run for their money. But now that I'm in,
I'm not so confident...

It's in Beta, not all the content is loaded yet. (and there are bugs etc in the site itself)

So at launch will it be up to the newest series of the shows I've mentioned? Just trying to get a feel for how "new" the content will be.

Is it TV episodes only or are there movies on the platform too?

What I'd really love to see is Ultraviolet library access and have Spark Retail stores be able to load physical DVD/Blu Ray discs into the library (i.e. show up with your DVD, pay $3 -> get access to the movie on Lightbox). I have so many DVDs, but they sit in the cupboard and I never watch them.

@lightbox

Will you have an API that we could see a plugin for XBMC or will you develop an XBMC solution?

Can my evening congestion below still deliver a good paying experience with your service? Bearing in mind at 2am when i can get 6Mb/s.

If yes to both... take my money...

+1 for chromecast. People won't mind buying the device (it's pretty cheap) if casting is implemented. What about android tv? What about tv optimised android app which could be used on an android stick? This service sounds pretty interesting, i'm very hopeful.

Lightbox:
MileHighKiwi: What have you got in the way of documentaries? I'm really enjoying the likes of Drugs Inc, Combat Rescue and the National Geographic catalog on Netflix.

We've got "Factual" as a category, that we're signing deals for.

This sounding good. I'm an avid Netflix user, but am always keen to support local if I see value :-) As per previous posts from others, I'd be keen to see a Smart TV app too - I also have a Sony Bravia and use the Netflix app on this.

@MileHighKiwi - check out 'Surviving The Cut'!

I noticed some frame skips tonight... Anyone else?

I am on Vodafone HFC (cable), which means no peering, probably strange routes. Still, at 130 Mbps and NZ-based content I didn't expect that.

Just TV at the moment but there's a decent mix of oldschool and more up-to-date stuff. Had a bit of a nostalgia trip at some of the kids shows actually. Postman Pat aaawww yis.

Another vote for Chromecast support. If I can't watch TV on the TV I'll stick with Netflix.

Have to say I'm impressed with Lightbox so far.  Not in the beta, but platform looks slick and with a lot of the content I would watch covered - Mad Men, Vikings, OITNB, House of cards.   Have no TV at home so wouldn't get Sky and don't have NetFlix either so would probably be happy to sign up, esp if discounted with a Telecom connection.
Would LightBox data be zero rated for Telecom customers who are not on unlimited?

Had frame skips lastnight as well on vikings.
Getting it setup and running on my ubuntu laptop was not too bad either.

Silverlight is an odd choice, i understand the tried and tested view point from the studios driving the decision to a degree but i know they also are happy with HTML5 and DRM from the likes of widevine.

Looking forward to more content as well.

If you have the likes of Orange is the New Black and House of Cards I guess we can assume Netflix is not launching here anytime soon then.  Do you have have a deal with them to air any more of their content?

Smart TV Apps ASAP please, then I'd be keen.
Airplay would work, but I'd prefer to have Lightbox in the SmartTV apps (I have a 2013 Samsung), alongside Plex and TVNZ/TV3 OD.

All the best, to me it looks like this could be the best effort we have seen so far in NZ for a SVOD service. Unfortunately it seems QF didn't quite get the content sewn up, and the paying extra for premium content puts me right off. I love Netflix, they have got the model right IMO.

I'm also keen to know (though I suspect Lightbox won't be able to tell us), have you done some sort of deal with Netflix that means the rumoured NZ launch will not happen? Or, has Netflix realized the more places their content is available, the better (in terms of HoC and OITNB)?
