Sorry, you are right. Definitely different boxes! Seeing as mine will be updated in situ, I didn't know there was a different new box.

Just went to add that box of yours and it is there! Digital Set top device, Kaon, NS1120-500 and BINGO.

So do these new boxes have any record (MySky) functionality? If not then where does that leave those that have the original Silver MySky units which I see are also being replaced? Or will those units be replaced with a MySky HDi/+?

My box has a 500GB HDD. If I wanted to record programs from the Satellite, I need to phone Sky and they unlock the record functionality, which will cost extra per month.
What I can do, without unlocking the record function, is download a program through the internet, from Sky On Demand. It saves to the HDD and I have a certain amount of time to watch it.

Wow ... $15 per month just to unlock the use of a hard drive which probably retails for $70, and for which they have already paid. I can see that they don't want to cannibalise their MySky subscriber base, but that still feels a bit greedy and also seems a bit silly if they are trying to stop a bleeding customer base.

Dont want the functionality, dont pay for it.  Get yourself a Freeview PVR and record your FTA programs as you see fit.
Last count some 500,000 homes were paying the extra $15/mth for MySky so some people value it.  If you dont no one is forcing you to pay it.

Yikes, is the new box really that ugly or is it not very photogenic?
