Tried the update process.  Updating process seems to be stuck in an endless loop.  Gets ~75% through the process (as per the white progress bar) and then back to the start.
Interestingly its been doing this for more than an hour.....

this is what i was wondering , if the update  gets stuck will Sky replace it since it was your fault it's not working . i suppose they would have to but would they charge fees for doing it.

Common sense is not as common as you think.

A few hard resets - and it worked finally.  Had I not figured it out myself I imagine a visit from the technician.  And yes, likely my cost as I was the one fiddling with it.  But its their kit so they'd replace it I imagine.
Anyhoo - not required as all fixed.  With a little patience and perseverance.

Our MySky was updated early on Tuesday. Yes the interface is new and better, having the OnDemand functions is better than no OnDemand, but really, I wouldn't be busting a gut trying to get it ahead of the official process. It is a bit meh - better, but no faster and largely gray-scale GUI.

I disagree.  I like the favorite channels, one button channel selection and really really like the series summary.
I'm glad I forced the upgrade the old GUI was seriously 1990's.  At least this one moves things forward - albeit only 10 years!

I'll give it some time tonight and see what I make of it.

I agree with @ockel - it's not ground-breaking but the new UI is a step up from the old one, with a couple of useful additional features, and there's definitely content I'll be watching on On Demand, which is at no extra cost.

For those who did the update, after doing "power up down power" did the ring start circling and how long before the download started? I've got a mysky hdi box and the led ring is simply circling with the play triangle illuminated and the "online" and "signal" led lights also illuminated - also as there is no signal to the TV, hence the red signal light, so wouldn't be able to see if the update was happening anyway. Was there anything else yon needed to do such as having the telephone line connected?

Interestingly the unit has now powered off and the power button is red.

Looks like it is now updating as a message finally came up - different than the picture posted - saying migration/update taking place.

Worked first time, little slow as it works through the upgrades.

Interface just like foxtel in Aus, on demand could be a good feature if used well by Sky.

All good and updated now - I like the new UI and especially the favourites and the grouping of series, although much the same as the SKY UK UI from the mid 2000's.

I triggered the update last night, the Sky Link process was mildly painful, special characters and that in WPA2 key turns it into a nightmare, but everything worked first pop so happy.

Funny thing though, e-mail from Sky this afternoon "We'll be updating your box next week!"

The new on demand feature is very cool. I think this is exactly what sky needs to save itself.

There's always going to be a need for live TV (news, sports etc) but now they've got on-demand TV and movies to match Netflix.

Jase2985: any hints to get the timing right?

I found it wasn't really the second reboot that you had to wait for.

For me the following worked

1. Turn My Sky HDi on -- blue power light should be present
2. Press 'select' and 'back' until it turns off
3. Wait for it to start, power light is a purple colour
4. Perform the "Power", "up" arrow, "down" arrow, and then "Power" sequence straight away

It worked a charm for me.

Good luck.

Worked perfectly first time for me. Thanks!
