CableGuyChch: Public launch is coming up. We had a meeting this morning about it. Customers fibre x equipment to be moved to the main tv and then cat6 to customers desktops if applicable. There's a whole lot of work involved depending on each house. I look forward to the challenge.

Are we going to be forced to use the Huawei HG659 or the new homehub VF has?

I just returned from the UK. their Sky boxes are very fast, very nice and all intergrated with the apps you need.

As far as I know, secondary tv's will still have coax unless they are also being changed to the new iptv system. In which case cat6 will take it's place. Houses with structured cabling will be a piece of cake but retro fitting could get interesting.

So if you have to move the router close by then the unit doesn't come with wifi? I wonder why not... I know people will say wifi is unstable and prone to interference but my apple TV works just fine on wifi.  Surely technically there isn't worlds of difference here?

I don't think the recording feature is an illusion.  It looks like each subscriber be given cloud storage to record to... I am assuming there is a limit on that with the option to buy more?

Assume that means if multiple customers record the same show only one copy will be kept on their servers... Or perhaps their servers automatically record every show.. But again what's the difference between recording and on demand

Am I too thinking about this too simplistically so for 140 a month you get unlimited fibre internet and Sky basic package?  So your Netflix subscription is on top?  So would Soho/Sport/movies - all add-ons?

Given that unlimited internet is AROUND 100/month and sky basic is 50/month there does seem to be some slight savings to be made......?

Even so - Vodafone and Sky are not for me thanks.....ill think ill stick with my Freeview/Netflix and complimentary Lightbox offering.  I really don't want to spend 140 a month.  Isn't this one of the reasons people are leaving Sky?  The perceived lack of value for money?  I struggle to see how this would offer customer value?  140 for internet and Sky basic doesn't seem THAT appealing, especially if they offer Sport for more again...

Am I missing something here?

Does it plug into the ONT port or the router itself?

When my fibre was installed they insisted on putting the ONT in the lounge behind the tv.
