Is there a way we can group up and present a formal complaint to Sky and at the same time ask them what would it take to shows all races live using Sky UK's feed?

I can't believe we can't make our voices heard.

It would be nice to think that, but unfortunately motorsport fans won't number enough to change Sky's mind. I've voted with my wallet already and realistically that's the limit of what's possible.

Of the F1 viewers in NZ, only a small number of them really care enough to have a preference for the commentary feed - so for SKy NZ they just get the simplest/cheapest option and they are done.

It's like me complaining that Air New Zealand removed all the canned soft drinks from the Koru lounge in favour of more alcoholic drinks - there's not enough money in it for AirNZ to care what a few people think.

It's a lot easier to understand and accept these decisions once you properly accept that if something doesn't make either short or long term CLEAR financial sense, then the company won't do it.

So I'm saving my $35/month on Sky Sports+HD and spending it elsewhere.

Cheers - N

Neils right.

I cant change as I also watch SBK and MotoGP, but I will download via P2P the Sky UK coverage if available, and if I'm not desperate to watch live.

I think I have just found the perfect replacement for Sky NZ. It's a subscription-based website, but they provide the HD feed for all Sky UK channels (including Sky Sports F1) and even an Apple-friendly feed for iOS devices.

Oh, and there's an XBMC plugin too, which means I can watch it on my TV using my media center. Gonna test it out with this weekend's race, and let you guys know.

Don't want to make it public yet, in case it gets too much attention. :)

PM me.

Did you try it?
Sounds dodge.

Sounds dodge, but how did it go?

Apart from Sky UK putting ads during all sessions but the race, it worked out quite well. Had the video from Sky NZ on the big screen and wired the audio from the iPad to the AV receiver with the UK stream.

Cool - was it actually an HD stream? I certainly need something now I have cancelled my Sky Sports + HD ticket

Wasn't full HD, but quality looked pretty good to me on the new iPad in full-screen.

That was me... I did that for a few sessions until Sky NZ decided they would rather show Rugby highlights and repeats instead of a LIVE F1 QUALIFYING SESSION.

It actually worked quite well and I was prepared to pay Sky NZ just for their HD picture, provided they actually made it available live... Using a MySky HDi it was trivial to align the SkyNZ audio and the Internet sourced Sky UK audio.

Of course, now I live in fear that there will be a delayed interview with an All Black coach playing at the same time as an F1 GP so screw 'em...

Cheers - N

Yeap, using HDi it is a breeze to sync streams. Unfortunately, Sky is choosing to replay random rugby stuff (even though they have 3 live channels, 1 highlights channel, a DEDICATED RUGBY CHANNEL and room in their satellite for at least a dozen more) so I'm not decided yet on my Sky NZ subscription.

I want to make a formal complaint, but I don't know who to address it to.

We might get lucky.. Rupert Murdoch with his 44% share (and he was the pioneer to the Rugby broadcast rights) might have his power revoked if he is sent to prison..

Leaving them open to  an butt whoppin by the Broadcast minister? Though I doubt it being a private entity and not a SOE

Years ago someone sent me a link to a BBC Player V1.52 application that installed on my windows PC and opened a BBC iPlayer window without the use of a VPN etc.

It's no longer working, and I'm damned if I can find the original link now. The application also had links to other channels, and a quality option of High, Medium and Low. Does this ring a bell with anyone?

Thanks.
