clayton:One day there will be a wi-fi over HDMI splitter, just a matter of time!!
My box just arrived and so far it's driving me crazy. No user manual seems to exist, as far as I can see.
The TV guide is clunky and, despite showing less information in the same space as the old box, manages to make it so small that I have to get up and stand close to the TV to see it! Can't see any way of increasing text size.
Also, has anybody figured out how to add a channel to favourites?
IainD: Re new Sky Box
Anyone kindly she’s any light on where the ‘ watch list ‘ is , or where to find it ….
It's interesting that Sky gave out a number of new boxes for feedback and problem solving during the past year prior to full scale production. Those that took part no doubt were sworn to secrecy as Sky have done with previous pre-release feedback. Perhaps they could have taken a lesson on how to do things from Microsoft and how MS Flight simulator 2020 was developed and released. No secrecy there and thousands of Youtube videos have been produced showing the inner workings and hidden functions.
Maybe some budding movie making enthusiast who was part of the initial trial could produce an "unboxing, setting up and how each function works" Youtube video, something that Sky should have done instead of producing fluff promo material!

Thats actually a very good point. Lots of unboxing videos these days but guessing not many localised NZ tech channels to take this on.. Might be an opportunity here (even if a very small audience)
MKBHD prob doesnt have it on his radar :P

All I want is a Product manual in .pdf, do you think I can find one!!!
Do you need one?
If there was one would anyone other than geeks read it?
It's watching TV, not rocket (or aeroplane) science.
If you need to read a manual first, you've lost 80% of your audience.

If you press the 'My Hub' button at the bottom left of the remote, you'll find it in there 🙂
It won't be there until you add a programme to it - it disappears when it's empty.

Not really, but would be good to go through it and see what I've missed
Does anyone out there know of a decent HDMI to USB Capture device so I can record Sky TV channels on my computer?
A few devices I've looked at says
This device is HDCP compliant, and will not capture copy
protected video, such as Blu-rays or the video output of Mac
computers. However, this device will capture video to Mac
computers and will capture non-encrypted video.
Is the new Sky box a protected device?

I've used one of these for years: https://www.cloner-alliance.com/cloneralliance-box/. Their website also says very clearly that it doesn't support capture of HDCP protected content - that's all I want to say about that. 😉

Hi Clayton,
Rather than try direct from the Sky box,
I can't vouch for Macs, but on a PC, I've found launching SKY GO in a browser on the computer and using OBS Studio (there is a Mac version) to capture the screen.
I've found it depends on your Video card as to whether it has HDCP protection. With AMD Radeon cards even with HDCP turned off you get a blank screen, but with a Nvidia card, it records fine.
If yours is a Mac, you can always give it a try, as no expense is involved. OBS Studio is shareware.

Thanks, not it's not a Mac and I have a Nvidia Quadro MX4000 card in my machine
I was looking at USB Video Capture - Bring HD HDMI signal into software - Magewell
for $550
We got our box today, looks good, easy to set up and only 5 minutes to update. I tried to send our previous programmes that we had on our planner through the app but that didn’t work so put them in individually.
Oddly Newshub only recorded 14 minutes and Opal Hunters Red Dirt recorded in nine segments. Is this normal or am I doing something wrong? With the old unit it recorded the program in one complete block which I prefer.
Other than that it seems to be going ok, time will tell.
