Benoire:
Is the SkyPuck better quality than Sky Sports Now given its also over the internet streams?
Be interested to know this as well...

SSN at $55 a month while broadcasting at such a low frame and bitrate that the pitch continually goes in and out of focus is laughable. It's the type of quality you would have seen in 2014 or 15 with their overseas equivalents.

I've never used SSN so can't speak to how it compares but I'm happy with the Pod/Puck and see no reason to ever go back to a box or switch to SSN. Used to be on Vodafone TV and switched to the Pod when that ceased. I've found it to be a good experience - mainly use it for sport like most people I guess. Generally I follow Uk/European based sport which happens overnight here and when I get up in the morning the replays are always there. I'm a fan of a football team and never miss a game, but like someone else said I can't do the 3am starts anymore so watch as live when I get up. They have added an 'instant replay' feature which means the replay is there pretty much as the game finishes and includes the full stream as live (including the ads etc). A bit later on it gets replaced with the on demand version which may cut out ads and half time breaks etc.
Currently I pay $50.30 a month for the Sky Pod with sport (no other channels just the basic you have to get). There was a discount for the first 12 months after the switch from VTV and it then went up about 20% so I called and asked for a discount and they took 25% off for another year. It works for all my needs and at my current price which is now cheaper than SSN it's a no brainer. You obviously also have Sky Go access with it as it's a normal Sky Subscription so can watch on mobile etc.
It's also completely portable as it only needs an internet connection and is not dependent on the address like a box so I've taken it away on holiday to Air BnBs, hotels etc. Also if something ever doesn't appear on demand, you can watch most things from the last 72 hours off the guide, though I've rarely had to use that (more for the odd program than sport).
Hmmm I have wondered about the pod. Does it have full 24hr rewind or via the guide (like VFTV used to have?)
Which would make it equivalent or better than SSN. ($55/mnth incl starter & sport). Is sport in 4K on the Pod?
I just want to get up in the morning and go to the TV guide, and launch something that was on over night (kind of like live) just like I did with VFTV.....
You just go the guide like you used to on VTV. But to be honest, the instant replay is there so quickly, it's so much easier to just find it on the home screen than having to bother with the guide. Not sure about the rewind as I've not really tried it. You can rewind but not sure if that just goes to the start of the current program or further, but it would be easier to just find what you want from instant replay or on demand. It does say it's 4K ready, but I don't have a 4K TV so can't confirm (and unsure how much we get broadcast in 4K yet anyway).
How does Sky Go work with respect to catchup? At the moment I have SSN on all my Google TVs but having a puck would negate that app so anywhere bar the main lviing space would be required to cast from my phone to the TV as there is no native Google TV app.. If I wanted to watch an EPL game played at 2 in the morning at 9am in another location not in the main living space, is that possible? That is currently the value for me of SSN is that I can easily (sometimes) get the sport I want playing somewhere in the house at a relative time I choose (more so when 24hr rewind is available).

Sky puck is not Sky Go afaik?
With sky go you can only go to the beginning of the show you are watching, I don't believe there is on-demand as such.

No but you get access to your subbed channels on Sky Go as well - they say they have catchup but I wasn't if they did!

Ok, I misunderstood. I'm watching skygo on my work PC right now. You can rewind (choose a point with mouse) to anytime within the show you are watching. You can't go back xx hours to a previous show.
They do have mini highlights and full replays for most sports but of course YMMV depending on which sport it is. Anything you'd like me to search for I can do it right now..

It would be good if you could have a look at any UK main stream sport shown over night in the morning at your earliest convience... this is when the rewind function currently fails for SSN and if Sky GO is also using the same backend process then it may also suffer. The Sky Go FAQ says catchup is available but its not uncommon for Sky to have a difference of position internally!

Sky Go is seperate to SSN backend wise I believe.
I presume you mean football, There is a full replay (1hr 46 min) of AV vs Liverpool I just started watching as well as a 12 min highlights.

I see there are a few games of EPL on sunday morning, I'll try monitor how quick the replays go up on skygo on that morning.
Any other sports your interested in?

Yeah just curious to see how fast they go up etc. as the ability to watch on any device "at any time" is the most important part for me.
They are usually there pretty quickly. If you scroll down the home page of SkyGo to the instant replay section currently (8.15pm) there is a replay of Supercars that ended at 8.05pm.
