joker97: There are so many variables from fuel efficiency fuel management (save more fuel for the end to power past everyone?) To reliability (you only get five of everything for the entire year, and the same gear ratio for the whole season)

You my friend are very brave to predict that based on one raw speed test

Sure its early days, but the test days and FP1,2 and 3 show them well ahead. What irks me is the 100kg fuel limit, I don't want a mpg race, nor where one car is better, but has to drive slow to save fuel. If a car uses more fuel, they can carry more and that in itself is a penalty

The Championship is down to points, IMO, this year there will be many more mechanical and driver DNFs,at east in the first half season,  and they may well play a big part, if a team can keep under the DNF average than its main rivals. two DNF's already in gearboxes and the season hasn't started

Jaxson: I'm keen to confirm the sound. The few bits I heard were disturbing, as in I miss the intense shrill of the traditional F1 engines...

Very complex cars and powerplants this year, so keen to see how that plays out reliability and competitively wise...

No earplugs needed any more. You can hear the tyre squeal leaving the pits.

I am sure there will be many DNF's, mechanically and driver errors as the torque is much more and is yet another steering wheel setting. Grip is down, all this will cause more driver errors and will favour the topliners/talented. 10 minutes till qualy, sweet!

Kind of disappointed with some of the rule changes and why they are introduced. I mean, the same gear ratio? This isn't karting.

Oh, actually they have to nominate 8 ratios at the start of the season. That makes more sense. I was trying to see how a Monaco gear ration would work at Spa!

Also, why have they forced the nose to be lower for safety reasons? What made them dangerous?

dude, there are 8 gear ratios in ONE gearbox. that's it. that one set of 8 gears for ALL races

 Of course! I mixed up my terminology and took ratios to mean set up variations. I revert back to my original comment then....

Nah, they can only use the motor for the first 10 laps - the rest of the race must only employ KERS to power the vehicle.

To reduce the risk of flipping another car, Webber went over Alonso, just missing his head in a crash. The lower nose somehow reduces that

When the front wing falls off you are left with the nose

The high nose can mount the rear end of the front car and fly

The low nose will not mount the rear end, rather it will make clean contact and not fly
