I know I'm going to get bashed for asking such a knob question, but... ...not all of us have MySky. ;)

Mum and dad's mysky box is connected to the phone line, I assume so it can order movies.

Rather than having a phone line, which I'm working to VoIP, can it be connected directly to the internet instead?

If so, does the mysky box need any more configuration or does is just use dhcp and sort it self out?

TIA

D

MySkys ethernet port is disabled.

The phone line is for pay per view. It may still work over voip. Not sure.

Sky don't use ethernet.

Whether Sky dialup modems work over VoIP depends entirely on the hardware and the quality of your VoIP provider.

you can book pay for view movies and you can record programs on your mysky over the internet through your account, but the box itself cant be connected to the internet.

Common sense is not as common as you think.
