Hi guys,

Need a bit of help with connecting Sky to my new TV (SONY LCD BRAVIA).

I got this cable and I have sound and picture but the picture on screen is in tones of blue, not normal colours

http://www.trademe.co.nz/electronics-photography/tvs/cables-aerials/auction-480240539.htm

Have I purchased the wrong cable? or is there something I need to do with regards to set up via the sky decoder or TV?

There are 6

Any advice appreciated! Thanks :)

Have you matched the colour of the cables to the plugs on tv.

The red, white dot ones on the right are the sound cables.

The red, green blue are componet ones, don't use the yellow one at all if you use these. And yellow one is composite, which plugs in by it's self, but just leave it dangling if you use above and plug it into nothing. The component the better ones. There probaby settings in the decoder as well which you might have to tell it that scart out is conponent not composite, best to make sure cables around right way to start with.

Edit: if you need to change decoder settings you may need to plug yellow one into av plug on tv, yellow plug on tv, set your tv to the av channel, just so you can see what you're doing to change the settings.

Can you see the picture on tv, if so go to settings on sky decoder.

Look for picture settings, and then see if there is scart out options that can be changed.

I edited my post above, you may have to use the yellow cable to get picture if can't see what you're doing.

Also do you know what model number decoder you've got, as I don't think they all support componet.

The small silver ones are fine.

Make sure all the plugs are properly connected.
Your symptoms would indicate that one of the plugs may be loose and not connecting or one of thepins on the SCART is not connecting. I've had the same problem at times and traced to loose connections. Doesn't take musch strain on a cable to loosen a connection.

Hi, and the Sky Box is set to Component in the TV SCART setup, not RGB, Composite or S-Video.

thanks everyone but still having problems....

checked all the plugs were in properly, plugged the yellow in the av plug so i could see sky via AV to change settings.

So go to SCART set up

The options are : Composite, S-Video, RGB, Component

So i opt for Component right?

Then it gives me two options to select from, Composite or S-Video?
What should i be selecting?

Are there multiple SCART sockets on your SKY decoder? I think that the first selection(composite, s-vid, rgb, component) refers to the TV scart, and the second selection to VCR scart.

You will need to make sure that you plug into TV SCART, no VCR SCART.

So the second selection shouldnt matter.

Possible: Maybe if you dont select one of the second options, then it forgets your choice? So select a random option on the second menu, just to make sure it saves your selection(component) on the first menu. Youve probably already tried this, but just thought i should mention it.

Have you had a bit of a tinker with the TV's settings?
