Just had a tech round to install multiroom.

Bought a lovely Samsung 32" LED TV for this purpose alone.

The tech goes and sticks a Pace DSR600 on it!!??

How old is this decoder? Picture quality is awful.

The decoder was dirty and dusty to top it off.

I'm surprised the Techs are allowed to use equipment like this Cry

You need hd if you want good picture quality.

I think it's about time that HD Sky becomes standard.  Sky are quite behind the 8-ball.

The only encouraging thought is that Sky will soon have a competitor in the way of ultrafast broadband.

The decoder isn't the issue, it's the fact Sky's picture quality is very poor. If you want a decent picture you need MySky and will only get decent quality on the HD channels.

Use a component cable instead. It's the best you'll get without going to the expensive HDi.

As above, the title of this thread is a bit off. Your issue is not with multiroom, it's with the quality of the picture Sky broadcast via their base SD offering and to a lesser extent the hardware you have been supplied, and how this hardware works with your chosen display device.

The solution would be to upgrade to SKY's HD service, or use another satellite device that apparently can give you the freeview base channels in HD, ie TV1, TV2 and TV3. ~Apparently.

If I have a MySky HDi in my living room, and I get multiroom, I'd expect a MySky HDi decoder for this. That way I'd have access to the same level of content. Is this not the case? And if it isn't, then I think the OP is right to be disappointed, thereby making the title 100% on the money.

Yeah true, that sounds fair.  Sky don't have different options/prices for the multiroom bit do they?
I agree with your comments.

The multiroom hardware is crap. Old secondhand hardware which Sky is trying to make a profit from.

Only way those decoders will get out of circulation is when they all die. The average user isnt going to complain about it so why bin the decoders when they can get $25 a month for them?

More of an issue IMO is why the hell multiroom costs so much! and is so limited - have 2 myskys and there is _STILL_ no networking between them to let you watch content on the other one. Tivo has had that for ages.

Multiroom = Sky decoder sitting in a cupboard gathering dust, Vu+Duo serving main TV and XBMC clients :-)
