We are ex-Sky subscribers with hardware exactly as it was when I disconnected our MySky HDi box. We have friends who have lent us their MySky SD box while they are away on holiday so that we can enjoy the Tour de France.

I have plugged in the silver Box and when I turn it on I briefly get all the lights on the front then they all go off then a red power light followed by amber. I get a T102 message followed shortly after by a T100 message. I assume that this is consistent with a cabling issue.

The cable that comes from the wall socket attaches to a splitter, one output going to Freeview HD (UHF) the other went to the MySky HDi. This configuration came about because when the dish was installed they could not get a new wire down the wall so they tapped into the existing one. Anyway it worked fine with the MySky HDi that we had, but alas not with the MySky SD that we have borrowed - at least not in it's current configuration.

I have had a look online and followed the instructions to input pin 0759 to get to the installer menu. There was a setting 11.30 that I tried changing to 10.75 and I have also tried toggling the LNB power but to no avail.

Tonight I rang Sky. They talked me through the cabling and suggested removing the splitter from the equation. This did not help. They talked me through the same settings, and finally said this box needed two areal inputs. They said the next step was a visit by a technician but they wouldn't be able to send a technician because we are not Sky subscribers.

Anyone out there know whether there is any hope of us catching le Tour on this box? All suggestions gratefully received.

Cheers,
Alex

MySky SD (Silver box) does indeed have 2 tuner inputs and only one of them provides DC power to the LNB on the dish. Sky provided a splitter with ours that has DC passthrough on one port only, meaning that both tuners are connected. It is crucial to get this splitter the right way around, or nothing will work.

Having both tuners connected should only matter if you are trying to record from one channel while watching another, so you could try choosing each input in turn and see if that helps.

You have already tried the other obvious thing which is LO frequency for the LNB, but maybe you tried it while the wrong tuner was connected, so I would suggest trying both LO frequencies again with one tuner input, and repeating for the other.

I am presuming of course that your friends didn't give you the splitter which came with MySky?

You could just re-subscribe to Sky and watch in HD.
