Just a warning to Panasonic plasma owners out there that the Sky Sport Olympic logo has given my 6 month old set a bad case of image retention. You can see that the white sections are not opaque at all.
It did worry me when I first saw these logos because you can normally see through them in at least some shots and backgrounds, but I thought no surely they wouldn't be that stupid. Well I can assure you they are!
My set is a TH-P42ST30Z 3d Panasonic but I don't think it will effect just these sets so be warned.

Check the settings in your panel to see if there is anything you can do to help clear it and prevent it in future.

In my old LG plasma there was a colour wash or white wash pattern your could run which would often help clear any image burn.

Also, there was a feature that would subtly move the whole screen image a few pixels every few minutes which helps with avoiding screen burn of channel logos and other static images.

Yes pixel orbiter enabled since day one and I have run the scroll bar which is supposed to help "repair" any image retention but it has made no difference

Ditto, have two Panasonic plasma's, both had a LOT of GT5 played on them (so pretty static HUD from the game) and no burn in, even watching a few hours of TV with logos hasnt caused any issues.... sure, see the "ghost" for a very short time afterwards but not permanent.

Have watched up to seven hours per 24hr period. Don't forget these logos appear on all sport channels.
I have just had a look at my 5 year old 37" pana plasma in the bedroom and that's been getting about 3 hours every evening and there isn't a mark on it so it could be the panel type I just know, I have been doing nothing different as far as using the 42" set goes. The only thing that has changed is the way the logo is so dense on screen.

Put it on to an analogue channel that isnt tuned - so all you get is black and white 'snow' = that usually helps clear retention

That's a very smart idea... properly random too.

Are you sure it's actual burn or just temporary image retention?

Maybe it is subliminal, I wouldn't put it past them...

Sounds more superliminal to me - if it was subliminal he wouldn't notice it!
