Im looking at getting sky movies with MySky in HD and wondering what is sound levels like on movies. Some movies I watch are really quiet when people are talking and then really loud in action scenes. Which sux at night as have to turn volume up and down all the time as not to wake others in house up.
Do Sky balance this with there movies at all and make levels consistent so action scenes are not way louder than quiet voice scenes.

no , i have to give up watching action movies if people are asleep at night , i have to turn the sound up to hear talking and even as something simple like a door slamming wakes my wife up

Normally this compression would be taken care of by your home theatre amp - it's often called night mode or something similar.

In general, I suspect most people would rather have the full dynamic range of the original soundtrack.

Yea running it through a Phillips sound bar so dont think that will have night mode etc. Might check TV as its late model Samsung maybe that will have a sound leveler or something to help.

I just picked a random Samsung TV off the NZ website.

Looks like it has a feature called "Auto Volume Leveller". Give that a try and see if it works out (if yours has it of course).
