Hi
I have Mysky hd connected via component cables, however it is only coming through as 576i compared to 1080i using an hdmi cable on the HD channels. I though that 1080i was supported using component input.
Cheers
Richard

Only on the Sports channels, even TV1/2/3 are 576i.

Spark Max Fibre using Mikrotik CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+, CRS125-24G-1S, Unifi UAP, U6-Pro, UAP-AC-M-Pro, Apple TV 4K (2022), Apple TV 4K (2017), iPad Air 1st gen, iPad Air 4th gen, iPhone 13, SkyNZ3151 (the white box). If it doesn't move then it's data cabled.

Its because HDCP isn't available over analogue

I had a bit of a play. A lot of channels are 1080i except tv1, tv2, tv3 and the movies channels. This is a bit odd particularly as I pay for the hd ticket.

As I said its because of HDCP although I believe (not tested myself) that if you hdmi connect to a hdcp capable device and the handshake is successful them component isnt downscaled.

1080i is supported via component but due to DRM restrictions on Sky it is downscaled to much lower over Component.

Your TV doesn't have HDMI and only Component which can actually display 1080?? (just not accept 1080?)

Untrue. i have HDMI to Samsung and component out is still 576i on TV1/2/3 and Soho. Movies I think are the same. As I said only Sport channels output 1080i over HD component leads.

The networks and studios won't allow HD over component. That's the reason for the above noted differences between channels.

And yet another reason for not having a Freeview-approved or Sky-approved receiver, as then you can use HD over component whenever you wish Laughing

It's getting rather hard to get non FV DTT receivers these days apart from one or two DVRs. All STBs I've looked at are FV certified (crippled.)  In the sat world it's quite different but there is no FV HD via SAT.  Sky sees to that..

Sky does however provide HD versions of TV1/2/3 via sat if you are prepared to pay the $46 per month.
