Hi

Just finished watching Game of Thrones season 3 and I don't actually remember having to enter a pincode to watch it on Soho HD. Have sky removed the requirement for HBO programs that are 18 VLS?

I watched Game of Thrones last night and the audio was stereo. Previous series have had Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtracks as do most shows on Soho. Did anyone else notice this?

I have submitted a question to Sky to see why this show was not broadcast with a 5.1 soundtrack.

I assumed that all HBO programs, no matter the time if they where 18 VLS required pincode activation to watch.. .Certainly GoT season 2 did.

Can someone nice, set a day time GoT to record or try and see if you need to enter your pin?

The quality of the picture on Soho fr GoT was terrible compared to Sky Sports, for a supposedly HD channel.

I thought the picture quality of Game of Thrones was very good. It was the audio quality that disappointed me.

Depends on the settings you have applied to your decoder. You can set a maximum age rating in the setup menus (say if you have young kids in the house you might set this to PG or R16) and it prompts you for your pin if you try to play something rated higher than this. This is a sensible option for people with young families.

Irritatingly, if you don't have kids in the house, it ignores this setting and always prompts you for your pin if you try to view anything R18 between (I think) 8am in the morning and 8pm at night, irrespective of the age limit you have set. This is both unnecessary (you can set that yourself if you want it) and annoying if you have set something to record on a DVD recorder while you are at work. I have had many two hour recordings of a blue screen saying "pleasze enter pin" instead of the film/show I wanted to watch.

I think it is the way that it was shot.

Sky have now confirmed that the Dolby Digital track that came with episode 1 of GOT was corrupted. This was the reason why the episode played with a stereo soundtrack.
