Hi I just installed a new tv (Sony Bravia KDLW670A) and trying to get it to work with the mysky decoder using an hdmi cable.

I initially connected the two with an hdmi cable only, however it only shows a blank pink screen, sometimes when I cycle between inputs I see the planner screen but it is very pink and def not hd.

When I add the scart connector between decoder and tv it solves this and i get a good picture, can I operate both devices with only an hdmi cable? problem is I need these ports on the tv for other inputs.

My old tv, LG HD tv also had to have both cables connected for it to work.

Thanks in advance

Dion

Have you tried a different cable yet?

If this problem happened with the old TV as well and with a different cable then I'd say the MySky unit is faulty.

Sounds like you need to change the video output settings on the sky decoder to HDMI, when you get clear signal with both plugged in it's probably just outputting over composite through SCART...

Try Pages 56-58 of this Sky Manual.

Yes tried a different cable
Also this is my 3rd mysky box so don't think that is the issue either

Try forcing the my sky to a resolution instead of using EDID. Ie: 1080i or 720p.

I noticed something similar with the in-laws mysky hdi box.
No picture at all with just the hdmi cable connected but as soon as you connect one of the RCA connections to the tv it works.
Doesn't matter which RCA you connect to which socket as long as one is connected between the tv and sky box the hdmi works.
I suspect it must be a grounding fault somewhere.

According to the User guide you only need to use the HDMI cable to connect to the TV.
If it doesn't display a picture with the correct resolution settings then either the Cable (most likely) or TV (unlikely as the old one had same problem) or Sky box is faulty.
What is the quality of your HDMI cables? I'd suggest trying a new 1.4 cable.
If all else fails ring Sky and get a tech to fix it.

That is most certainly either a broken cable or socket.  HDMI pinout has only 1 ground wire (stupid consumer quality connector).  Because it is used for the cable shield, it is harder for the manufacturer to connect to the GND pin.  I've also got 1 or 2 HDMI cables that did not work from new.

You've changed the mysky box 3 times. You used a few tvs.

Maybe it's the cable?

If none of the above maybe gcsb Is spying on you

So the free HDMI cable that comes with the MySky box isn't worth the asking price?
Try another one...

Was it working when the Sky Tech installed and setup the MySky? He shouldn't have left without it working.
Like I said, Ring Sky. If it doesn't work with the supplied cable they must fix it.

Just tried third or fourth (lost count) hdmi cable and sorted!!!!!

Oh and for the record when the sky technician initially installed it he couldnt get it working without the scart cable and couldnt answer why, i just always assumed i had to had both. it was only after purchasing a tv with fewer conectors that i needed to try.

Thanks everyone for your help

Regards

Dion
