Every gets charge to something that does not belong to them...sky does not give a hooote if it breaks, you pay.....relocation of $50 for technician to check the disk....what for??? They should fix the disk at no cost or at their cost......its called SERVICE...providing service to something that belongs to them......its so funny, after finding heaps of online complaints...it is only happening to people who has sent in their new address for the first time and not long after that.....HELLO.....sky problem...need service technician.....and those that have not changed their address, not problems....YET anyways...and they have been told....once they change their address they will get the problem.....HINT TO ALLL.....I tried it and it worked>>>.IF YOU HAVE BEEN WITH SKY FOR OVER A YEAR, CANCEL YOUR SKY AND REAPPLY FOR A NEW ONE ITS FREE AND YOU GET THE LATEST PACKAGE WITH IT AS WELL.  But be careful they will say you can not cancel and reapply, so I reapplied with my wifes name, and now all good.  If you can't get it at the front door, show them there is a back door.

I'm guessing this post won't last too long with the moderators

I feel like there is a valid point in there somewhere, but I just can't understand your post. It looks like you vomited random words all over the page.

Maybe you should call your keyboard supplier for a replacement.  It seems like your space bar and enter key are not functioning properly, and your . key is stuck.

Soapbox post is against the FUG. The post has all the signs of soapbox. It won't last long if the OP doesn't come back and fix it to something people can actually understand, relate to and comment on.

We moved recently and cancelled sky as it was tied into our Vodafone package which was also cancelled. We soon had a sky retention type person contact us and offered us free movies for three months to rejoin so was happy with that and no issues as per op other than extreme rain fade due to our lovely weather

Why should Sky fix or replace the disk?

If you were using freeview satellite who would you expect to fix your disk?

Actually Sky owns the box, if there's a problem it will be replaced at their cost. So not sure what's going on here, since we don't have the full story.

I think geekzone should have some rules around new users and where/what they allowed to post.

Maybe first 10posts need to be approved after an introduction?

Otherwise limit the user to only the introduction and Geekzone threads until say 10posts are reached.

It seems like they have an issue with the $50 "relocation fee" because they moved since getting the subscription.  Yawn, who cares, move on.

Here we go, plain as day:

Which will result in technical questions being posted in the Geekzone or Introduction forums.

I cant really understand what OP is on about - but it has always struck me as strange that you do not own the hardware with sky.

If I dont own the hardware sweet - then why do I pay a $600 "joining fee"?

If you do not own the hardware then why do you need to pay a re-location fee to maintain it?  Surely that is the responsibility of the "owner" to make the service work for its paying subscriber?

TL : DR

Sky has no competition here and can do whatever it wants as its disgruntled customers have no where to go.

Yes they do.

Hulu+ and Netflix via a VPN or DNS service is a valid alternative.

Miss the sports, but that was never really worth the close to $100 a month I was paying for it anyway.

Sure, I can get my retired parents to setup a VPN.
Geeks, yes, its an alternative, to the masses that Sky has, no its not.

As for hardware changes/repair etc, we had same issue at IHUG with the Ultra dishes etc...  fine print was same as Sky about the dish ownership etc, but when a customer wanted to cancel the service, we charged them to have the dish removed.... lots of irate calls about that... "its YOUR dish, come get it or Ill smash it"
