Hi all,

Sorry if this question has been asked before but I have conducted a thorough search and was unable to find a definitive answer.

I am hoping that someone can help me with my home set up. I own a Pioneer VSX-920-K receiver. . In the current setup i am getting channels 1, 2 & 3 showing as dolby digital on the receiver display, which is great; however, I am having a bit of trouble when trying to watch sky sports. It is not showing as DD on the display. Also, unlike ch 1-3 which show 5 speakers on the receiver display all the sky sports is only showing 2 speakers.

I have the HD access.

It might be worth mentioning that every now and then I get 5.1 on the odd sports channel. Strange????

My current setup is;

Hdmi from Panasonic tv, Panasonic 3d bluray and mysky hdi in to the back of the receiver. Then hdmi output on receiver to hdmi 1 on tv. I then connect a optical cable from myski to receiver. Is the correct?

Should I be using any certain hdmi slots? Eg arc?

Is sky sports different to channels 1-3 where 5.1 is on the entire time? I was watching a super 15 match Crusaders/Chiefs) and that wasn't DD which I thought was strange.

Do I need to change some settings on my receiver?

Any would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

No changes needed !

You get whatever the broadcaster is providing as you do with HD and SD content.

Thanks for the reply.

How is it that channels 1-3 are able to broadcast in DD 24/7? I was also led to believe that all NZ Super Rugby matches were in 5.1?

Cheers

You don't need to use optical from the Sky box to receiver as DD will use the HDMI cable from Sky box to receiver to do it - and make sure you have it setup right in the audio settings in the Sky active tab.

If you are getting DD form TV1/2/3 through your receiver you are setup fine.

Some sport uses DD5.1, some doesn't. You will also see it flick on and off sometime when ads come on.

My Onkyo makes an audible click when it shifts and you can hear when the ads come on and aren't in surround.

Thanks for the replies.

From all the other posts on this website I was led to believe that you need to run an optical cable from mysky to the receiver in order to get DD5.1 on the Sky HD channels???

I was also led to believe that NZ Super 15 and Warrior matches are also in 5.1? It is not the case in my current configuration.

DD over HDMI was enacted in a firmware upgrade at least a couple of years ago.

Does any one know where I can find a list that shows which programmes on Sky Sports HD are in DD?
Or even let me know what programmes they know of?

Cheers

The rugy at 7.30pm Friday night was dd 5.1. All 5 lights lit up.

Looked at the sky guide mag and it doesn't tell you, also hit info button on remote, hd logo shows in top banner, but no dobly digital logo even when program is using it.
