Is Igloo just the low cost version of Sky (As in owned and operated by Sky)? 

I don't see a sports channel? 

We only watch sky for FoodTV, and Sports, though at $20 per sports event, it would be pricey to watch Super Rugby and The AB's tests each month.

I had looked at this and stayed with plain freeview.  On the igloo site, on the whats on tab it says pay per view sports.




HTPC Intel Pentium G3258 cpu, Gigabyte H97n-wifi motherboard, , 8GB DDR3 ram, onboard  graphics. Hauppuage HVR 5500 tuner,  Silverstone LC16M case, Windows 10 pro 64 bit using Nextpvr and Kodi

Yep, it just offers a selection of the less popular channels. All the big sky draw-cards like discovery, sports, movies etc are all kept back. Most sports should be available pay per view on igloo so you just need to weigh up how many you watch to see if the cost works out in your favor. Seem to start around $14 for local sports but anything big is a lot more expensive.

IGLOO review

It's a mix of Freeview channels with a few, select Sky offerings plus an option to rent movies, TV programs and Pay-Per-View sports (not a great selection).

For me it is a cheap set top box to get free view plus it has the 3/4 channels I'm interested in (BBC World, Comedy Central etc) but I guess things will change once I move out into a more permanent residence hence it is more of a stop gap solution in the mean time.
