So we have moved house and I finally have decided to get SKY, for sport channels, and because we don't get Freeview HD at the new place.

I signed up online and received multiple copies of confirmation emails.

I called today to confirm a few things and this is approximately how my side of the conversation went.

"Yes I want SKY basic, Sport, mulitroom with two MY SKY+ decoders. "

"I understand I get the HD ticket included with multiroom? What do you mean it's only for one decoder? So to get HD on both decoders it's ANOTHER $10 per month?

"And if I want two MY SKY+'s that's ANOTHER $20 per month?!"

"So the pricing? You say this email is have here is plus GST pricing? You're kidding right? It doesn't mention GST ANYWHERE in the email. So the email is wrong about the price of multiroom? Ok. "

"Ok I think I will talk to sales again to discuss my options. Oh the person who is looking after my account is not there? No I am working afternoon shifts this week. No, I am not home after 5 tomorrow. Ok I guess I'll call back then. Maybe."

I know SKY is an optional luxury. I just want to watch the All Blacks live in HD!

Oh the original reason I called is because the email say I need to pay the installer $133.37 cash or cheque. But the website says no joining fee. On the phone I'm told that this is actually the first months subs, not an installation fee. Confusing.

Yes you are quite correct I can pay via credit card before the installation. I was confused though as it clearly says no join fee, and nowhere seems to say this is your first months subscription being paid.

I get miffed with the complexity of their pricing online. What they offer is relatively straight forward. I want to get multi-room with MySky, there is a 99 install fee for the mysky decoder, and yet My house already has the double run to the location. There is no setup bar plugging in the machine required, and yet they will not waive the $99 install fee

Yeah, it's not free for them to send out the technician as they are contractors who expect to be paid,

When I moved, I did a self install as already had a dish at the house, so cost nothing, but anytime someone has to visit, expect to pay that $99
I guess the short time for your job subsidises the larger job someone else has. (not ideal, but is what it is - surprised they didn't waive when you called back as part of goodwill though)

I don't think Sky know the meaning of the word. They have never offered me anything as a long time customer (Multiroom, MySky, Sport). Yet they offer all sorts of sweet deals for new customers.

If it weren't for the ABs, I would bin it. I probably still will in the next 12 months or so - there is really nothing that I use it for.

So you do have mysky already, and just want a second mysky decoder installed?

Just talk to them and say you are considering leaving, and see how you get on.

Ok, quick update. Just got off the phone with a very helpful and polite customer service rep at SKY (Margaret).
I was definitely misinformed the other day. I have decided against the second MY SKY, as it is indeed an extra $20 per month on top of the $25 multiroom. The HD ticket WOULD have been included for the second decoder. (Not an extra $10).
I have decided on one MY SKY+ and one standard digital decoder by multiroom. HD ticket is included with mulitroom.
I have also gone for no contract as the only advantage of going on contract for 12 months is free sport and MY SKY rental til end of year, about $90 value. The actual subs are the same, but the breaking fee for the subscription service is big, starting at $375.
Anyway. Good result.
