I used to be able to watch it by entering in www.espn3.com and it would prompt up a iSky login but now I  get an error message below and a search of Skygo shows nothing.

That's a really good point - I used it infrequently, but would definitely miss it, if it was no longer available.

So is ESPN3 just the same as the regular ESPN we get via the normal skytv?

no theres more live sport on it . eg you can pick which championship football match or FA cup match you want to watch live , usually if its on one of espn's network you can watch it on ESPN3 live.
