Couple of different problems/issues I currently have with Sky that Im seeking input on:

1.  Nickelodeon - technical

Each time I put this channel on for my son its in square box mode rather than full screen.  Looks avg and annoys me more than him to be fair.  I can change settings on my sky box and it goes full screen / letterbox mode type thing but each time I go off that channel it changes.  All other channels dont do this which is irritating!

2.  ESPN - content.

Why the hell do we only have 1 ESPN channel that isnt even in HD?  Australian pay TV now appear to get ESPN, ESPN HD and ESPN 2.
Could it be the lack of a monopoly?
This seems crazy (as I type College hoops are on ESPN and we are missing out on the OKC - Blazers game - one of the better NBA matchups this year).

Another source of great frustration with our piss poor TV here - Igloo doesnt appear to have options to watch games either

The force is strong with this one!

No idea regarding Nickelodeon as that doesn't happen here, but ESPN is in HD if you have the HD ticket.

ESPN is in HD, but yes sky are dumb for not getting ESPN 2. aussie don't have 3 ESPN's just ESPN and ESPN 2, which are both in HD. there are seperate sd and hd versions.

And re the basketball it's been said many times before espn can't broadcast all games because of rights etc and cost. so they generally only show the games the espn in the us show (plus a few others) whereas ESPN in the US pay a lot of money for the college basketball (and football) so it's cheap for them to show it here. if you want to see the nba your best option is just to get league pass (or watch on a dodgy site)

Can't say anything about nickelodeon because I haven't watched that for probably like a decade.

Sky deteriorates on a monthly basis, it has only a few channels where new content is played the rest is just a continuous cycle of repeats.

Until there is a viable competitor Sky will not change.

OT sorry, but is the SuperBowl being shown this year? Can't find in listings or on SKY or skysport.co.nz websites.
I think last year was on ESPN.

Cheers,
Josepj

The OKC - Blazers game didn't even get a national broadcast in the States. It was only available on local TV networks and NBA League Pass. So there was no way it was going to be picked up by ESPN down here.

It could be an auto-detect setting on the TV itself which needs turning off rather than the Sky box.

What I don't understand about espn and the nba is they have a double headers usually on a Thursday and Saturday and most of the time on the Thursday they only show one of the games (like today, the pacers/suns is on espn in the US after the okc/spurs game), lately they've usually had both on the Saturday but not always.

That's clever thinking. You don't want the TV getting masterful on you. I was also wondering where rossmnz was making the change. MySKY has this distinction that changes made on a channel by hitting the 'setup' button are temporary while changes made in the system menu are permanent (e.g. turning on subtitles). I'm not sure if aspect ratio settings are available from the quick menu but thought I'd raise it.
