Just got a flyer in the mail with a link to;

http://www.skytv.co.nz/direct

From what I understand if you sign up for basic Sky you will get the choice of two extra channels for free for 12 months.

I am unsure if I pick Sports whether I will get all sports channels, or just Sky Sports One? Anyone know?

I cancelled Sky a few months ago as I was not happy at having to pay $75 a month when all I watched was the rugby, cricket and a bit of NRL. At $50 a month it is a bit easier to stomach so I am seriously considering getting back on board, for 12 months at least.

Seems like a pretty good deal, assuming it is for ALL sports channels, if it is just SS1 then I am not interested.

Anyone else received this?

It looks to me like its sky sport as an option which would include all of them.  Just ring and ask..  You are living proof that their retention system sucks, good on you for walking to get a better deal -  I better go pay my $140.00 subs :/

Yep - I would be pi$$ed if I was paying $100 a month and this offer came out. Especially if I was off contract and wasn't allowed to take it up.

But I think you are right - includes all sport and movie channels.

Now, just to convince the wife...

I signed up on a similar deal 12 month ago (literally a week before they announced they are not getting the Premier League - and all i do is watch the football!).. They wouldnt let me cancel the contract. Imagine how pissed I was.

But I signed up pretty much on the same deal. And as soon as my 12 months were up, the subs jumped up 100 bucks. Cancelled it straight away!

Yep - this would be a 12 month only deal for me!

I hear they have just failed to get the rights to the PGA golf tour going forward. They are slowly but surely losing more and more premium content. Not that I watch golf but I bet there is a large user base that does.

The times, they are a changin...

1.1 % are Sky's figures that watch Golf.

Common sense is not as common as you think.

I'm sure this was not brought on by the introduction of Lightbox, or more noise about Global-Mode

Yes I completely agree. But what choice do I have if I want to watch the All Blacks on their end of year tour? For the last few months I have been heading down to the pub to watch Super games of interest, and have been sucking up to mates with Sky to watch AB tests. All well and good but when it comes to the 3am kickoffs in Nov I am a bit stuffed. Plus, I would be spending close to $50 a month down at the pub on beer...a far better use of funds granted...but all the same when it comes to the back pocket.

Sounds like sky sport 1 and another channel from the list only...  also doesnt apply to existing customers or customers that have left Sky in the last 3 months :(

I think it is the 'Sports Package' plus another, e.g. 'Movies Package'. I.e. all of the Sports and Movies channels. The reason I think this (and I will be ringing them to confirm before signing up) is it states after the promo period of 12 months the subscription reverts to $96, which is the cost of the Basic + Sports + Movies packages combined.

It really is a good deal, half price effectively if you go for Sports + Movies. But as already mentioned, this is only relative to their full price. $50 a month is still expensive.

This deal has been around awhile, If I remember correctly from an earlier thread someone had success in just getting the sports I think it was and foregoing the other channel package and getting the mysky fee paid for instead.

Now that is interesting, I will be making some inquiries! Thanks for the tip.

I would use that deal, but as I am an existing customer, Sky just views me as a meal ticket to be ignored and trampled on.

I will just scavenge off people/go to the pub, watch it on Prime until they start viewing customer retention as important.
