Hi Lightbox users,

To the point; Do not clear your cookies or temporary internet files.

More info;

I was trying to setup my old laptop to run lightbox without choppy audio video.  So I tried multiple browsers (Chome, Firefox and IE)

After updating Firefox and IE. I only had 1 device slot left.

How could this be. I only used one physical computer. So I decided to Clear cookies and Internet files for Chrome.  Low and behold Lightbox to many devices registered you can not register more.

I have escalated this to Lightbox operations team.  But using Browser info written to a cookie is a poor way of registering a device.

This has been discussed a few times here in existing threads. According to Lightbox that's how it's going to be and that in their opinion it would affect very few customers. That along with not being able to label each PC properly to identify them, and their policy of only being able to delete one device per month needs to be addressed IMHO.

Sorry if it seems to be a double post. I'm just getting to know this forums i tried searching for thread titles. But if it was posted in another subject :(

I will look further for that thread.

When I submitted my ticket with them they advised that they have cleared my device list for me.  So now when I log in on via chrome on my laptop i will jump to devices and label it as Chrome-laptop.

I will follow up on my ticket as to the progression of identifying devices solely via browser information, as it would effect every one and should not be low priority.

I for one delete my cookies and temp internet data regularly and its one of those things that other web services advise to try first to trouble shoot login issues or web app issues.

It's easy to label the devices when you start from scratch. Not so easy when there's more than one PC listed with the same label. Great that they have cleared your device list. I hope they're happy to do that whenever they're asked to if the circumstances are the same. They have not stated this previously.

I've limited access to one PC with a separate login just for Lightbox to avoid this issue for now.

Still a pretty good service though, even though a couple of programs are still missing since launch that were there in the testing phase :-(
