Hello,

While our press release yesterday stated that we'd launch on Playstation 3 early next year, we (and our good friends at Sony) seized an unexpected opportunity.

This means that Lightbox is now live on Playstation 3...

Merry Christmas to all.

Nice one! This makes your service even easier to recommend to family and friends (esp. the non-technical ones). Prior to this, I could only, hand on heart, recommend it to people who already had an iPad by getting them to buy a reasonably inexpensive Apple TV. But with the PS3 generally available from $300, thats another feasible option to sell people on.

Does the PS3 app support playback control using media remotes (either the standard Sony one or third party variants)? If so, that may well be our "go to" Lightbox player going forward.

Sorry, we don't specifically support any alternative controllers, but if some of them simply remap the normal keys/d-pad to a RCU format, then it should work. I am not intimately familiar with them, unfortunately.

I'll have to give it a try later and post my results here :-)

Fantastic news! Well done!

However does this work for those of use that use US based PSN accounts? As in will the app appear in the store?

I'd also be interested in an XBox 360 app too, as we have one connected to our secondary TV :-)

If it doesn't (which wouldn't surprise me), you can always create a NZ PSN account simply to install the app. Thats how I got the NetFlix app on our PS3 (which is accessible by the NZ PSN accounts once installed), so hopefully the Lightbox app can be obtained and used the same way.

If we did it (not confirming anything), we'd be talking months, not years.

BTW: Final update from us before Christmas:

Tried this last night, and can confirm that playback can be controlled using my Logitech Harmony 650.
