With the new mysky services coming soon I was wondering in which way to connect the box. I'm in a modern home which has outlets around the house. I'm on fibre & the ONT in the garage which looks like a modem in itself. My fritzbox (yes i'm on snap) is in the lounge by the computer.

There is an outlet near the TV so could I run a cat5e/cat 6 from the wall straight to mysky (coming straight from ONT) OR would it have to come via the Fritzbox?

The Sky Box should run from your Fritzbox to the Mysky box. This can either be via a direct Cable or using the pre-wired jacks with a patch cable on either end to each device.

The only thing that should be plugged into the RJ45 jacks on your ONT is the Fritz. Plugging any end device (e.g mysky) won't work.

And you don't know for sure that the "outlets" are actually wired correctly, all 4 pairs punched down and terminating on a patch somewhere. Determine that first, i.e., find the patch panel.

I too have an ethernet question.

I am doing this setup for my son-in-law.

Can you use the ethernet connection to book programmes?

I want to disconnect the phone line connection MySky uses and use that line for a phone cradle.

I have live internet through a Netcomm powerline.

So - will ethernet from Powerline do all the functions Sky needs?

I don't think Sky have made any announcements about what the Ethernet port will do.

Basically No.
Just get a 2 way telephone adaptor to plug in the phone and the Sky box or disconnect the Sky box and book your programs online.
