SKY is way over priced IMO for viewers who want to watch on demand ie, specific games.

Are there any alternatives?

google XBMC and IPTV and SPORTS

There are alternatives out there that offer more content than Sky for 1/10th the price.

Its a farse! America gets all the NRL games live and free on Livestream, its what i used from the first game last year and it didn't fail me once! Of course you need to be "located" in the states to gain access ;). I also get a solid 720p connection that looks far superior to skys stream.

Your in the states im guessing by your avartar? If so you wont have any problems accessing. I stumbled upon it randomly myself, its not very well publicized at all! Its a brilliant official stream, i shall be using it on friday for the All stars game :D

If you watch supercross your in for a treat too, that is also live and free on livestream as well, however this time you have to be in Europe or Brazil (random? yes! I get better access through Brazil for some reason)

Is IPTV a site or a collection of sites or just a term for internet TV?

Just a term for internet tv. XBMC has a bunch of addons that give you iptv options. Have a look at this video for some examples

No you don't need an xbox.  XBMC is media playing software.  It was originally developed for the Xbox hence the name XBMC (Xbox Media Centre).  It has since changed it's name to Kodi.  Kodi runs on PC, MAC, Linux, Android etc

As well as playing local media on your Kodi is also capable of playing internet streams.  There are lots of streams on the internet that Kodi can play, some are free as mentioned in the above youtube link but I found those to be hit and miss in terms of quality.  If you look hard enough you can also find paid streams which offer superb, high quality content. The paid streams aren't exactly legitimate but for me they offer better service than Sky.

Does anyone know of paid streams for International or Super Rugby?

I am happy to pay for a stream of an All Blacks Test, or some S15 games, but be blowed if I am going to pay $299 for a season of S15.

Note to Sky, if you make things too expensive, you encourage people finding it from other sources.
