The Lightbox app on my Samsung Blu-ray player is great but not quite so good on a Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 tablet.  The Lightbox tablet application does not let you choose how to display the video (letterbox, zoom etc) - it just scales the video to the same aspect ratio as the screen (16:10 in my case) which results in people looking very skinny.  Does the same thing happen on iPads which have a 4:3 aspect?  Hopefully this gets fixed in an update.

I just used the lightbox for the first time on our recently aquired Samsung tablet, and noticed this too. It stretched the content out to the full 16:10 aspect ratio, I haven't found any 4:3 content to see what it does with that. I'm quite suprised that the aspect ratio isn't correct, these apps are specifiaclly for Samsung tablets so they should be presenting the video correctly, seems like a fundamental purpsoe of the app. Dissapointing.

I'm finding this very irritating. Any plans to fix this Lightbox team?

The Lightbox app on the iPad seems to respect the format of whatever is being watched - most are letterboxed on the 4:3 screen.

Yeah I guess there is an issue somewhere, wouldn't have thought it would still be a problem, the apps been out for a while now.

Here it is 7 months later and I have just purchased a new Samsung tablet that is in 4:3 and the aspect ratio is all screwed up in lightbox. It doesn't letterbox the widescreen content so the video is stretched vertically. As samsung have branched out yet again to this AR what is the likelihood this will be accounted for in the Android app?

Sorry for taking so long to reply.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 had a model number SM-T710
The Samsung Tab A is SM-P550.

Of note they both play on demand video from TVNZ, Sky and youtube correctly letterboxed.

Completely OT, is there any progress on being able to add the Lightbox subscription to my Spark bill? I am not interested in a monthly credit card payment.

There's currently no way to add Lightbox to your Spark Bill, but it's something we're investigating with Spark.

I see what you mean RE the slight vertical stretching. I'll look into it and see what we might be able to do to improve this.

Thanks. The latest chromecast update has cocked up the HDCP to my panasonic tv so I can't watch lightbox or youtube on it. So I am relying on my tablet to be able to watch Lightbox. Call me fussy, but I can't stand watching things that aren't in the correct aspect ratio.
