Got a very silly question.
If I want to relocate where I watch sky temporarily, can I go and buy some cabling and connect to the dish and run the cable about 35m to the new location?
How much does it cost to install sky in another location?

Yep, that should work. The only issue you may have is if the dish isn't perfectly aligned. With that length of cable you may get rain fade... But most likely it will work fine

and don't get sky to do the move, do it yourself, with help

I had a similar requirement so bought a ready made 15mtr extension cable and adaptor off TradeMe, jsut joined it inline with existing wiring in the lounge, worked perfectly

I tried to diy some Extension and it's not working ... Maybe too much noise or too much resistance.

Anyone knows where to buy the bits and cable?

Yep, you will just need RG6 coax with F-connectors (the screw in kind). The signal *might* degrade over that length of run, but you should be fine.

You don't need Sky to do it, but if you were, it might be more economical to go with a multiroom option - sky does these for a fixed install cost, rather than an hourly rate + materials for techs.

Years back I removed the dish for painting, it wouldn't get a good signal after that, so I rung Sky and a tech came out to re align it. The ciost was the standard install, $99. He said, do you want it moved, as its same cost, I said yes, so he moved it.

In your case , any wiring and bits and pieces would not need to be bought, if you went the Sky tech, way. An option.

Wow. Yes, mine was a move from the bargeboard I think its called, that the guttering attaches to, to the roof, which was fine, then.

Radcliffe Electrical, you need:
RG6 whatever length you need
2x screw on connectors
1 x barrel connector if you are going to extend it from existing

yep new stupid rules, they need either edge protection (read scaffold) or two people and a harness...

Also if you think you might ever do a job like this again ask them for their cheapest coax stripper and a demo (from memory around $20)

Actually they will probably strip the ends for you and crimp on proper connectors if you look sufficiently pathetic.

I ended up buying a coax compression tool and stripper from aliexpress for about $40 for when I rewired my house.
