We've got a Skybox. Basic Sky channel options.

Opted to take the Sports channel option to watch\record Wimbledon.

Last night (men's semi's) set the box to record Wimbledon. Usually 6 hrs, or 360 minutes.

But on replay today, the playback only lasted 289 minutes.

Right in the middle of Federer\Murray!! Frig!

Sky helpdesk says, 'Oh must be TVNZ's problem'.

How could that be?

Anyone have a clue? Or had the same problem?

Holy Sabotage, Batman! It happened again!

Last night we set our MySky box to record Wimbledon, this time for the Womens' Finals.

The TV1 broadcast ran for 5 hours (300 minutes) but we ended up with only a 150 minute recording. (The night before we got 289 minutes out of 360).

I called Sky (again) to complain and suggest that our MySky box might definitely be faulty, as this was the second time in 2 days we'd been shortchanged.

But Sky Helpdesk said probably not our Box because they'd had other calls about the same problem. The person I spoke with wasn't too clear about the details but said they'd been told that it had something to do with TV 1 broadcasting a termination signal, causing MySky boxes to cease recording.

OK, call me cynical, but TV1 and Sky are rival networks. How difficult would it be for a TV1 boffin to tweak their broadcast signal to have that effect, thus causing Sky customers to automatically assume it was a Sky fault? Think about it, anyone recording the 6 hour event is very likely to skip all the expensive TV1 commercials during replay.

Seems to me it's walking and quacking like a duck...

Anyone else had this problem with the Wimbledon broadcast?

For really important things/sport where the end of the program may vary I've taken to recording the next program as well after being bitten by this sort of thing in the past.

I've always worked on the principle that if there is a program that you simply must record without fail then use timer record and don't rely on the EPG. Timer record always works and will only fail if you have a power failure..

B1GGLZ, would you please run that past me again? Timer record? Where's that option?

No idea as I don't have a MySky box. I use an external recorder (Panasonic) so can only use timer record for Sky. Check the MySky Manual. I'd be surprised if it doesn't have Timer record function.

P.S. A simple google search fond the User Guide. Read pg 34.

Thanks, guys. And yeah, B1GGLZ, you were right. The MySky option is called 'Manual Record' and just works on a time basis.

We used Manual Record last night, as well as the usual Program Record method (using 12% of the MySky box's recording capacity in each case), and naturally, the normal program record worked perfectly for a change.

Actually, I've gotten so carried away with the sheer brilliance of the MySky recorder that I clean forgot I've also got a Sony Hard Drive recorder I could have used.

Cheers all :-)
