Any chance we will see 5.1 supported added to devices that support this i.e PS4,PS3,Chromecast?

Thanks

All of our content and players are encoded to support 5.1, so we expect that a device that allows 5.1 should support it.

That said, it's a bit of a minefield in terms of how your audio is set up, and the path your audio takes (i.e. some TVs won't support 5.1 audio via optical out, which would inhibit the ability to support 5.1 via a Chromecast plugged into your TV).

Interesting, thanks Lightbox.  I might have to try plugging the Chromecast into my AV receiver instead of the TV...

Hi

I have my chrome cast plugged into my amp and everything comes through in pcm 2.0 - Netflix comes through in 5.1 .

I understand some content maybe in 2.0 vs 5.1 - can you give me an example of content in 5.1 to test?

I am using iPhone and iPad to cast - also done AirPlay and it's still 2 channel

Thanks

It's not 'some' TV's that won't support 5.1 with an HDMI input / optical output.
It's more like 'almost all' TV's won't support 5.1 with an HDMI input / optical output...

Sorry - I missed this.

RE Airplay - apologies, my earlier post was incorrect - we currently deliver SD only via Airplay/iPad/iPhone (and Android tablet/phone), so as a result only Stereo will be available.

RE Chromecast - try Better Call Saul / Vikings (I'm fairly certain that this is available in 5.1). I'm interested to know what you experience.

We do need to verify our 5.1 support across our platforms - it's on my to do list.

Tested both shows and only came though in 2 channel Pcm

Same shows via Netflix full 5.1 on same device

Using your latest app via chrome cast or Netflix app via chrome cast for comparison

Thanks for testing that - I'll do some investigation, and will update this thread when I have more information. I can't give you a timeframe at this stage.

???? My LG TV connected to PS3 by HDMI and TV outputting sound to amp by optical out does 5.1 from Netflix perfectly. But I get no 5.1 from Light Box with same set up.

5.1 sound from Light Box would make it a lot better.

Hi, just curious, why only SD in these cases? Does that mean the only way to get HD is via a PS3/PS4, or a PC?

Is this something that is due to change?

Sorry, this has sat a little further down the priority list so I haven't made any progress.

I've had to park this for the meantime, so I haven't had a chance to investigate. Sorry.
