i have a lightbox scuscription and currently have 4 devices connected to my account.

now the issue is i have only ever connected 3 devices to lighbox, 1 laptop, 1 desktop, and one tablet.

From the above picture you can see 3 PC computers and 1 tablet. I wish to remove one of the PC computers as i wish to add my IPad and my android phone. How do i know what PC computer is what?

Seems like an odd way to name them, and there is no way to tell them apart.

IIRC LB said they are working on this?   A suggestiojn is to display the Mac Address and the generic description as is used now, and an option to rename that to a free text user defined description. Jases PC   Win7 laptop   Jacks iPad  etc

It is and it really only leaves you with one option.  Remove all three PCs and add the two back in again.

that would take 3 months to do because of their 1 device per month limit

This can occur if you have cleared your Silverlight application storage for some reason or if you watch Lightbox in Incognito Mode or Private Browsing mode - again if you get in touch with our Support team at help.lightbox.co.nz, they should be able to help you out

Nope
Nope
and Nope

seems like every time i update the web browser it adds another device, seems kinda silly

So i need to get in touch with your support team for something im suppose to be able to do myself? how hard is it to actually list the devices with something more than "PC Computer" and not add another device every time something on the computer changes (Windows update, browser update etc)

is there plans on your end to fix this? and or make the device names somewhat more descriptive?

I really think until this can be done properly, either don't track the devices, or allow way more than 1 removal per month per person. Personally, I've stopped using Lightbox as a result of the annoyance of this issue. Netflix handle it much better.

This isn't a technical issue, the number of devices registered to your Lightbox account and ability to remove only one device per month is a restriction placed upon us by the studios.

Surely a bit of it is a technical issue?

Why can't your system just pick up the MAC address of the Network card of the machine accessing the service (no matter what browser/browser version/update etc) and call that one device, then give it a sensible name (or at least allow the end user to do that)?

I understand the studios five devices per account limit, but it is not working, everyone seems to have more devices registered on their account than devices they actually use? Every network device has a MAC address, they are all different, seems like a good idea to track devices by that rather than the browser or piece of software they are using??

No device limits, Especially ones that you have to wait a month to change. It's a waste of time anyway, Everything is already on pirate sites

Lightbox: 0

How does netflix do it?

how is it not a technical issue? i understand the need and requirement to have x number of devices and only remove one per month

the technical issue comes from the way your system picks up and tracks the devices.

So i really do think you need to put a little more effort into this and stop passing the buck or saying its not a "technical issue".

many many other programs/applications etc can tell the exact computer you are working from, the OS, the browser, the mac addres etc. other streaming services can do this too

So why cant lightbox?

This is a problem. The simple fix would be that when the system detects that a new computer is viewing it, it displays a box to ask you to name the new  device. This would only ever occur in the silverlight version anyway, and already there is a warning box that appears if you already have 5 devices attached.

Really the reason people pirate is device limits?  I guess then people who pirate aren't like most people and don't do things based on money?
