Hi
Anyone seen a problem where sky freezes during playback, then either jumps back to the start of the program, or just stays frozen?

I then have to user the Viewer defined start position to jump a minute or two ahead of where i was watching.
If I'm lucky I can continue watching, but usually after a few minutes it happens again.

I called Sky out for this once, the tech came round and said I needed to format the hard drive.  Did that but still keep getting it occasionally.

He said no point in getting a new box as they just give out recycled ones with old hard drives in it.

Anyone else had this and seen a fix?

So frustrated getting up early to watch recorded sport only to fail.

Thanks

The only fix I have seen for this is a replacement box. I had this and eventually got the box replaced. It is true that you will get a recycled box but at least the hard drive will be properly checked.

Cheers, Matt

I have seen it happening on a friends MySky. It only happened with HD content (bigger file sizes I suppose).
I advised him to let Sky know, and they replaced the box. Been fine since.

I have had this twice.

On both occasions a full system reset solves the issue, for at least 6 months.

Caveat: You lose everything on the planner, including series-links.

If you do nothing about it, it'll get worse and live pause will stop working, you'll lose the ability to fast-forward or rewind and the thing will largely become useless except as a simple tuner.

The process for doing a full system reset is as follows:

Press "setup" on the mysky remote
press 4
press 4
press 0759 (which is 0SKY)
press select
and you will see the Installer Setup menu with the following options:
1 LNB SET UP
2 DEFAULT TRANSPONDER
3 MODEM SETTINGS
4 NEW INSTALLATION
5 FULL SYSTEM RESET

Have you tried a power cycle? I get a similar issue not freezing, but frequently the box would report the Atmospheric conditions message, and some recordings would fail. This happens every 6months. I just pull the power and power it back up, this clears it up for 6months.
Note: I have a multiroom MySky that doesn't exhibit these issues, so it's not the LNB.

Hi
Sky came out in record time, swapped the decoder over for a new one as well as adjusted the dish.
hopefully all will be good now.

Thanks for your responses.

The hard drive is failing. New box fixed that.
