So my poor Mum has been admitted to hospital and might be there for some time.
She is very upset at missing the rugby, what with Tauranga Hospital having no Sky Sports.
Their wifi sucks the big kumara as well.

She has her iPad and I have a Vodafone portable hot-spot thingy (3G only).
So that's device and internet sorted.
I have installed the RWC app but that just seems to do scoring and commentary.
Will SkyGo work? And if it does what sort of damage will it do to my 5GB monthly allowance?

Are there any other solutions I should look at?
Nothing too complicated please, we are all too stressed as it is.

She is already a Sky customer so would Fanpass be superfluous?

Had to look that word up...

Not unnecessary, but it will cost $20 per week. Would likely chew through your 5GB monthly data allowance though... So probably not the best idea with that in mind.

From the FAQ..

How much data is this going to use?

The average 2 hour event will be about 4GB (around 1.4GB on a mobile) on the best quality, but this changes depending on the quality of streaming you're using. Based on the average broadband plan in NZ, watching the occasional game should be fine but it's probably a good idea to have a good look at your plan and think about how much you're planning on watching, and adjust your data plan accordingly. If you're going to be using your phone to stream on a 3G or 4G network please be mindful of the data usage and use lower bitrates if needed.

Ok, will keep fanpass in mind. She might have to make do with just the commentary and live scoring.

Sky go would be the way to go, it would put a dent in your 5gb cap though. And obviously you would need a sky go login etc. details of sky go usage here https://skytv.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1567 keep it to low quality and it's not too bad, also delayed coverage could be had on prime if thats an option.

Also if she starts chomping through the data you could look at one of these plans https://www.2degreesmobile.co.nz/mobile/zone-data-packs/ $99 for 12gb is still pretty good in my books

Ok. Got skygo set-up this morning. Just tinkering around sucked up 1gb so might give that a swerve.
