I need a solution which will allow my mum to watch her MySky box in another room.

I'm totally lost as to what she needs.

She doesn't need a second decoder, more like a streaming solution

you need to split the output from the box and take one to the current tv, then the other to the second tv. be it via cable or wirelessly

we need more info like distances, budget, how its currently connected etc.

HDMI splitter.

The main issue will be how to run the HDMI cable.

To extend the IR you can use the UFO IR extender.

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

We have exactly the type of streaming set-up you are looking for. We are not able to run a cable to get a Sky signal to a second room so we need a wireless system.

I have tried various SD and then HD wireless solutions over the past eight years. We currently have one of these and it works brilliantly - easily the best solution we have had. Sends HD Sky signal from STB in the lounge downstairs to TV in the family room upstairs and you can watch Sky on either or both TVs.

A good thing compared to other solutions is that the transmitter has HDMI passthrough - so you don't need a separate  splitter. The receiver in the second room also picks up the Sky remote IR signals and sends them back to the MySky box - so you can control the box from either room.

It really depends on the OP's mother.

Thanks for the help every body.

So mums house is shaped like a massive 'L' with the main TV and Sky box being at the very bottom right of that 'L' and the room she wants to watch Sky on is that the top right.

Distance is easily 20 meters if not more and it really looks like a wireless sender might be best solution.

I don't think changing channels will be a biggie either way.

Sky can do this for you, IIRC they charge $50 for the box and what ever the call out fee is. - There is no ongoing charge. It's just a composite/audio to UHF converter. The olds have one setup in their home. It's not HD but most of Sky isn't HD anyway.

With those HDMI splitters, do you get reduced signal on the outgoing connections or full?

Full.

OP, is it possible to run a LAN cable or two between lounge and bedroom?
An HDMI splitter with HDMI to RJ45 Baluns may be a solution (if the cable run is > 20m). If the cable run is under 20m, I' be looking to run a 20m HDMI cable - can be had from places like PB Tech for not horrible amounts.
