Force updated a couple of weeks ago - but the last week, noticed that some recordings have sound issues, the sound gets so low you can hardly hear what they are saying.  Have reset box, and issue still there on the recorded show.

Happening on recordings pre update and recordings recent ie Sharnara chronicles on The Zone.  It is not pinpointed to a particular channel.  House Rules on TV3 sounds has been perfectly fine.

Do not get this issue when watching live TV.  So I am ruling out cable/connections.

Mysky is hooked to my Pioneer receiver via optical.

It is not the receiver or speakers as streaming stuff over the internet via my computer that is plugged in works perfectly fine.

I also constantly have the internet connection drop off (I posted about this a while back and the fix was to turn off the wifi box and then on again).

Anyone else having this issue?

IMHO, it is the sub standard audio compression that SKY is using when you record content.

I have a average HT system and I'm hearing the clicks/pops on recorded and on demand content.

Have you tried contacting Sky.

Often futile to do so, but it's still worth trying if it's an ongoing problem.

I will contact them, just wanted to see if it was isolated to just me (have only seen one other post recently, but I think they guy traced it back to his tv (I don't use my tvspeakers)).  My other mysky box is not having these issues.

Just went to watch The Flash S2 E01 (recorded back in October) this evening...there is sound, the music and effects - but the voices were so low all we could see was their lips moving.

Now, I have been 5-6 months behind my recordings - prior to updating - and not once ever had this issue on stuff that was recorded ages ago.  This has only been something new since the update.  I have yet to do the latest current update - just could not do it this evening as I was recording shows, and will see if that makes a difference tomorrow.

I will definitely be contacting sky, as we had to stream our shows on each occasion online.  But just want to try some things out first.

I think the update simply switches the audio stream to Dolby Digital.

Spark Max Fibre using Mikrotik CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+, CRS125-24G-1S, Unifi UAP, U6-Pro, UAP-AC-M-Pro, Apple TV 4K (2022), Apple TV 4K (2017), iPad Air 1st gen, iPad Air 4th gen, iPhone 13, SkyNZ3151 (the white box). If it doesn't move then it's data cabled.

Spyware:

Its possible but...BEFORE the major update, there was a preparation download that made changes to the mysky's and was meant to save all the settings. 8/10 times it was successful but occasionally it would fail to do this.

The default it MPG/PCM and dolby for the optical.

Surely the recording is just a dump of the transport stream? I couldn't imagine their lowly CPU re-encoding the audio on the fly, and keeping with with rwd / fwd

I notice no quality difference between recorded & live.

I have noticed since the mysky upgrade I sometimes get  a second of undecoded AC3 / optical(you  played through my HT when I hit play from rewinding or fast forwarding. Quite jarring.

I have the answer.

In the new update, the idiot who wrote the software has locked optical output volume to the MySky "volume" button.

If you increase your mysky box VOLUME the optical output will increase its volume.

Ahh, explains a lot. Im picking up the normal backround noise by over driving the HT.

I need someone to tell my 1.5year old to not play with the SKY remote and just let Daddy play "The Moe Show"...this way I can ensure that volume is always cranked.

We should tell the sky engineer to undo that "feature"

We noticed that the volume had decreased following the upgrade frown

A year or so ago, I was having trouble with a couple of the frequently used buttons on my MySky remote. I was going to phone Sky and just ask them to send me a new remote, but decided to get one of these so I could replace both the Sky and TV remotes. It's set up so that the channel buttons change the Sky channel and volume buttons change the TV volume.

After the Sky software update it seemed the volume was very low and on some programmes I was having to crank the TV volume almost twice as high as I ever had before. Eventually I dug out the original Sky remote and found that after the update, the volume on the Sky box was sitting at about 60%.

I just did the last update this morning and the recording of the Flash we watched yesterday has the sound back.  So for now I am guessing the current update fixed it for my scenario.

I do have my sound low on the sky so it does not come out my TV speakers and only out my receiver speakers.
