Just last week a Vodafone sales rep cold called and offered me Fibre 100/20 and Vodafone TV incl Sky.

Just looking at the cost etc, and noticed that there is a major price difference between what Vodafone charge for Sky and what we are paying for Sky.

I currently have Sky with Sky TV,  package incl, Sky Basic and Sports, MY SKY HD, HD Ticket and Multi-room for a monthly fee of $118.00

The same thing delivered by Vodafone using their Vodafone TV receivers etc was going to cost $48.00.

So my question is, why such a price difference?  Is Sky really ripping us off?

Vodafone from memory do not charge the $10 HD ticket and do not charge the $15 or $20 rental for the receiver. They are probably offering Sky Sport free for a period of time.

I seem to recall many bad things being said on here about the VTV box (they dont use the regular MySkyHDi box).

When I switched to VF last year I took the option of keeping the MySkyHDi box and paying the bill via VF, with 12 months free SkySport.

The 12 months is practically up, so I'm going to have to revisit this again.

Is the VTV box still "undesirable"?

Or to put it another way, is the VTV box worth tolerating for a saving of $70/month, or $840 a year....

Many people still don't like the t-box, and never will. It had a poor start and has taken far too long to become adequate.

But I like my $840, and don't watch enough SKY to warrant putting an ugly dish on my house, just to have a slightly smoother UI.

Since they fixed the timeslip problem  - I have no issues with T-box or the UI

even at $45/month, IMHO  it's still not worth it compared to the streaming options (Netflix, Lightbox, Fanpass etc) unless you watch a seriously large amount of sport.

You don't need to watch a seriously large amount of sport for it to be worth it.

If you watch 1 game per week, fanpass is $10 more expensive and you get no pop-up sports channels with fanpass.

We swapped to VFTV when we changed to fibre.

I personally don't watch tv/sky but the others in the house that do didn't last a day with VFTV.

It would every so often lag and pixelate the top of the tv screen on a 100/20 connection.

@dolts VF TV is not delivered over the same bit of bandwidth as the Internet, It's delivered over the multi cast channel

Probably a bit late but when we went to vodafone we kept the sky box. A big plus was when the Huawei modem went down and we had to wait a few days for replacement was that at least we could still watch sky. Otherwise it was like the dark ages lol.
