Just thought the Geekzoners might be interested to know that Lightbox's app for Apple TV 4 is available now on the App Store. I think it works pretty well actually. Similar to Netflix ATV4 app (but then how many ways can you skin a cat I guess), looks pretty good. Quality of video and audio seems pretty good on my ATV4.

Airplay support still in the works apparently.

There's more details on Ligthbox's website here.

Downloaded yesterday and gave it a run last night. I'm on VDSL, ethernet connected at about 40Mbps. The UI was a little laggy - sometimes it took a few moments for all parts of the screen to load. The shows themselves loaded pretty well. Like Netflix, there's a little bit of a settling down period in the first half a minute, then it locks in at what looks to be at least 720p. The UI seems to be a little bit offset to the left - some headings are butted hard up against the left of my TV screen. The main issue at the moment is that my Watchlist shows as empty when I go to it, but if I go to a show that's on the watchlist, it's marked as being on there. I'd give it a 7.5/10 at the moment. Works pretty well; some room for improvement.

Me too, so well spotted to report that, as it seems an app issue, no doubt can be attended to now that the app is live.

I'm on fibre 100/20, it runs very well

Yeah, that's surprising. I don't see similar when using the PS4 app. Quality locks in pretty quickly.

Haven't really watched much on the ATV4 app yet, so it will be interesting to see if it does actually become our preferred player (it's the device we use for most of our SVOD content), or if we continue to use the PS4 due to better picture quality.

No. Lightbox doesn't do DD5.1, only two channel sound.

Hey there,

Thanks for the feedback.
Just a quick update, we have released a new build this afternoon which will fix the watchlist issue – great spot littleheaven.

Please don't hesitate to shout (using your inside voice if you don't mind tongue-out) if you spot anything else

Have a great weekend

Yeah this really seems to be a pretty big request from Lightbox.

The content comes in 5.1 obviously, and I believe some of the other platforms support 5.1 (but I could be completely wrong there). What I don't understand is how this isn't a priority - audio is half the experience.

Have you guys tried forcing your Apple TV 4 to output dolby? I read that it defaults with "Best Available" which outputs PCM audio. Just change the setting and then put HDMI into receiver. Let me know if you get it working. I'm thinking about getting an ATV. Try newer content (latest Homeland season or something).

Nice app guys!

The UI scrolling down is quite laggy (scrolling down the thumbnail grid). Not smooth compared to other apps. Suggestion: make the grid of thumbnails have larger thumbnails - hard to see some of them at that size. Also, when pause in the middle of a program, switch to another app, then return, it goes back to the episode list for that program - it would be nice to go back to the actual program at the paused state like other streaming apps do.

I'd be interested to hear the results of this... I'd try it myself but our audio setup is only 2.1 at the moment so I'm not exactly a good candidate to test this!
