I don't have MySKY at home but I have had a call from a 4G customer today who's burned through 100GB in two days, the only device we can think of that might be doing that is the MySKY device.

Does anyone know if there is a setting to disable downloading, but retain the ability to purchase Sky Box Office etc?

Checking bandwidthD logs here, mysky box literally uses less than my fileserver (which is about 5MB a month...).

Your own experience may vary though... Last movie i traced the download for, was exactly 1.4GB.

No way. Even at HD streaming 24/7 it can't use that much.

Does the unit pre-fetch programs the customer wants to view (selected in the guide/planner?) or 100% streaming only?

its a VOD service rather than streamed AFAIK (so there is a buffer period)

Only programs you choose to watch are downloaded to your planner via the internet connection. An hour long show runs to about 750-900 MB. Movies are about 1.5-2 GB. The Box Office Movies that 'preload' onto the unit still come from the satellite feeds.

Unless they chose to download dozens of shows/movies on those two days I don't think the use came from the Sky unit.

To answer your question No setting YOU can adjust.

Skylink and the mysky pull down very little unless YOU command them OR they need to do a callback to sky and even that is very little.

Could a netflix binge burn that much (I don't have netflix my internet is too slow for it Yay vodafone)?

What other factors are in play?

Try disconnecting the skylink and see, but It won't make a difference I feel.
