Is there any word on when or if Neon will be in HD. Its really only thing stopping me from subscribing to it currently.

Well they said "it's on the horizon" but I wouldn't hold my breath for it.

This is from their response of a feedback on the Android app...

" <snip> We have another build in the works to make it even better. As for HD, it is on the horizon and we hope to have an announcement on this very soon. "

Seems to me that neon launched in a hell of a hurry to beat Netflix to the NZ market, albeit missing key selling points.....HD and $$

In netflix's case UHD if you go for the 16pm option. I'm well aware all programming is not in 4K.

Neon are not even in the running compared to what Netflix offers.

IMO it was released to just be there for now, in preparation when Sky see the numbers drop so much that they go all in for SVOD instead of satellite. The satellite deal ends in a couple of years. Fan pass is another step they have taken. Numbers have dropped F all so far, so should that ramp up by 2018 when they have to decide to stick with satellite or go SVOD, it may well be well timed. I feel that then Basic will drop the sport subsidy, and be aligned with other SVOD price wise, Sport will be $60 as Fanpass is, and no HD ticket and no STB rental. Basic + NeonHD will be a well priced bundle. Just my opinions though

I also wonder if neon will be used as a free promo to vfone broadband customers should the sky+vfone merger be approved to compete with spark and there free lightbox to broadband customers.

Yes, NEON now has a selection of the catalog in HD including titles like Game of Thrones.

I guess the next question is how big is "a selection"?. I went to the website looked at some titles, no mention of SD or HD, went to GoT, no mention of HD.
