Just wondering if this noise bugs anyone else?

It's a lot louder than I'd expect and can be very distracting.

Is it the same for everyone with the new MySky boxes or just me?

Guess it could depend on how close you sit. We sit 3 plus metres away and don't notice it.

Second thoughts, it probably depends on how old you are!! My hearing isn't as acute as it wascry

And how quiet the room is. I have had to move a friends sky out of their bedroom for them with the change of box to a noisy one. The old ones were totally silent apart from a little power supply whine which I cant hear anymore.

Has it always been loud, or getting louder recently? The reason I ask is, our first MySkyHDi got louder just before the HDD failed and we had to get the unit replaced.

We've had our MySkyHDi for box for 8 years and it's still going strong. Ours is only noticeable when it starts recording with the TV off.

My mysky used to be loud, I broke a cork coaster into 4 bits and put under the feet and Blam silence

Thanks will give that a go.

I've only recently subscribed to Sky - but the hard drive noise is much louder than the TiVo's it replaced
