Why on earth has the Sky Sport channel watermark changed to the Olympic watermark? The games are not being held until 2020!

Well done Sky, we all know you have the rights and have stopped the majority of young and old kiwis alike from seeing their sporting heroes at the highest level, but you need to remind us for over 2 years. OW COME ON

My gripe with the new logo is it isn't transparent like the old logo and can become very annoying. On the upside, it is smaller.

There is more than one olympics. The winter olympics is just around the corner.

..Now it just seems that you are ranting on about something that is incorrect

Majority? Sky has 800,000 subscribers. There are about 1.6M homes.

I feel the same about content only Lightbox has, and only Netflix has, and only Hulu has, and so on

Yeah but Lightbox and Netflix are way cheaper than  Sky.   Sky for the Olympics will set you back about $90  / month.

I know. If LB or NF bought the sport Sky bought, it would cost the same. If Sky bought the content they had, it would also be the same price as them

This ^ - Sky spend $100m+ for the rights to broadcast Rugby in NZ (Allblacks, Super Rugby & ITM Cup). This is a significant proportion of the NZRU revenue which flows on to rugby players throughout the country included juniors.. not just professionals you see on tv.

Add in all the other sports they buy you can easily see why they charge what they do. Maybe if they only purchased rugby and streamed online only they could get away with selling $10/20 month subscriptions,m

At the end of the day sky is a business that needs to adapt to the modern times but they are still a business which has content that 800k people agree is worth paying for.

The mindset of expecting a price similar to netflix for professional sport in a country the size of NZ is unreasonable imo.

Is it not because the World Games is currently on?

No, it's because the 23rd Winter Olympic Games will be in PyeongChang next February (9th-25th).

I haven't seen what logo was displayed so don't know which one.

I just figured that since the World Games is on Sky at the moment and it is under the patronage of the IOC, that might be the logo.
