Going to go stay at my parents for a week. Will skytv know if I take my skybox with me just for this week? Or should I just leave it. Don’t wanna get in trouble or anything

They allow you to take boxes to holiday homes, and will even arrange the dish install at them for you.

Besides, what is the worst that they could do?

Taking the box and card for that short period won't be a problem.

I took my box and card and used it at another house for 4 weeks whilst renovations were being done at my own place.

You may just need to change the LNB frequency to make it work.

We do this all the time, and sometimes for much longer than a week. No issues.

As mentioned you may need to change the LNB settings, make sure you know how before you go.

Don't forget your remote, done that a few times, quite frustrating.

Sorry to State the obvious, but do they have a satellite dish? Is it an ex Sky one?
The only reason I ask is our neighbour across the road at the beach arrived with his decoder a few years ago and didn't realize he needed a dish.

They won't know. I used to have a multiroom decoder at our place before we cut Sky. The room just so happened to be on the other side of the city.

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

You would be violating the terms of your contract with Sky, specifically 9.1 (a) "Unless we expressly state otherwise ...  you must not ... remove the Equipment from the HOME or remove or replace any connections to the Equipment without our prior written consent"

Having said that, I don't think Sky really enforce this.

Ha ha the sky secret police are among us!!

I once discussed upgrading the internal harddrive of my sky hd unit, and you should have seen the geekzone sky lawyers getting on their high horses.

Incidentally , it is too bad there is no structured fibre optic distribution product on the market (at least cost effective).  That would solve all issues surely.

No, they don't enforce it. I even rang them once when my decoder wouldn't work at a different address. I said I was staying at a different property for a few weeks and the operator happily gave me the new LNB code (whatever that is) and even talked me through changing it in the setup menu.
