Trust me, dead air is the last thing anyone at sky wants.  As soon as it happen it would have been "all hands".  TV being on air is number 1, everything else (website etc) can wait.

Here is what is being reported

Sky Television says almost all its channels are back on air following a late morning power cut at the company's Auckland headquarters on Wednesday.

Spokeswoman Melodie Robinson said the power outage struck at 11.11am and took out the company's high-definition channels.

Sky Sport was off air for about an hour, but Robinson said at 12.25pm only one sport pop-up channel and some "niche" channels were still affected.

Robinson said the priority for the company was restoring all its services and then it would look into the causes of the outage.

My money is on that the generators had not been load tested for sometime.... and failed to kick in.

OR maybe sky sold their gensets
