I am attempting to connect my Sky box to my wifi.

Problem is it is not accepting my password which I know is correct (just checked it on my Spark modem page (http://192.168.1.254/)

I am using a Spark Modem and a new Sky box with built in wifi.

I have called sky but they were a waste of space telling me to call Spark.

Help appreciated.

Thanks

You are better off using a Ethernet cable (If possible) If not then hard reset the modem then try again

I have sometimes found the Sky remote difficult to use in respect of entering a WIFI password.  From memory, the 7 key (for example) cycles through P,Q,R,S,7,p,q,r,s (or it could be lower case followed by upper case).  The issue is that for many letters the uppercase character is very similar in appearance to the lower case version - eg S and s.  I would suggest you try again, carefully checking the case for each alpha character in your password.

Wifi is not a Sky issue, nor is it a Spark issue. Its your internal network.

You either work for Sky or have no understanding of the issue.
The issue is related and solved by changing the password to a more simple one that can inputted easier via the Sky remote which if you know has to be inputted like old mobile phones.
So actually the issue is very much a Sky issue and one of the MANY reasons I will be ending my contact with Sky at the end of my term.
Maybe if Sky customer service would have asked more questions and dug around a bit more they would have found that out as well.
They came up with the same wrong response as you leading me to Geekzone to resolve the issue.

Thank you for your input

It's all case sensitive, so wrong press and won't work

To make it worse the entry is only on screen for a few seconds and then goes to dot, so can't see what entered to verify.

I did a 2degrees one today which is about 20 numbers, so around 80 button press's on Sky Remote, then I said a prayer and it connected - just I wanted to download a movie, but guessing tomorrow Sky Link will have dropped connection and I'll have to reset Sky Box to get going again, box is to far away from modem for Ethernet cable.

Sounds like you got it going.

I don't work for Sky, and I do have an understanding of the issue. You stated you had the correct password, you were wrong. Most password inputs on remotes are messy, that's often the case. Either you are using the old text inout method or you are moving the cursor from one end of a alpha numeric on screen grid to the other, which is all time consuming. You can see its the old text method, and you got the case incorrect. Id actually prefer that as some on screen grids dont allow wrap around.

@tdgeek

I found it quite frustrating you saying it was a Spark issue.

This was basically the same reply as I got from Sky and to me that shows either a lack of understanding or from a customer service standing ( I know now you are in not in CS) passing the problem on and having the customer running around in circles.

The issue is the input method of the remote not showing on the screen and being very awkward to use.

The Sky representative and her supervisor who she passed the issue on to did a poor job.

As i said earlier this is one of the MANY reasons I am cancelling Sky at the end of my contract.

The problem is now resolved so thanks everyone for your help.

I never said it was a Spark issue.

The method of input could be improved, yes. How can you enter a PW if its not showing on the screen? Thats incorrect, it is shown on the screen, and you see the input before you see the dot. You need to post more accurately.

In all honesty, you need to be less frustrated when you post its not the end of the world, but you seem angry. You will see disagreement at times, or that's its less important to others than its is to you. Take a breather, a topic like this might be annoying, but its not that big a deal. The Sky CSR's should have done better, I agree, but they didn't. They should have told you its lower case, and taken your feedback. But they may have known there are no PW input problems, and passed it on. Remember, you told them the PW was correct, but it actually wasn't due to the case of the input.
