Hi,

I have an existing MySKY connection and will soon be getting multiroom. Sky said that their contractors only do external installations but I'd prefer internal. I may as well just do it myself.

What do I need? I thought it was just a splitter (like this? http://www.freeviewshop.co.nz/satellite-terrestrial-splitter-p-55.html) but Sky's website (https://skytv.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/300/~/i-need-sky-on-another-tv-in-my-house---what-are-my-options%3F) says for MySKY says that I need a modulator. What is that and where do I get one?

The modulator is to send a low quality output of one sky box to multiple TVs at low cost, its not for multiroom where you get a sky box in each room.

Just run the RG-6 and let Sky contractor terminate and provide splitter.

As richms (edit: and spyware) says above, a modulator will only allow you to watch the same Sky channel on both the primary and secondary TV concurrently. Multi-room allows fully independent viewing, but requires a second decoder to be connected to your Sky dish. That is normally achieved by putting a splitter in and is the device you first linked to.
In my experience Sky installers will do a minimum effort job during install because they get paid a very low fixed fee by Sky. Don't be surprised if they connect the splitter close by the dish, run the cable along an outside wall (or along the gutter) and then drill a hole through the wall to your second tv/decoder. I'm sure they would love to do a better job, but they just don't get paid enough to do so.
If you want a tidy job done, either run the cable yourself (or pay someone to do it). That way when the installer arrives you can say "the splitter goes there and the decoder goes there." Just make sure you use an approved grade of cable. More expensive but much tidier.
If you use the modulator you will still need to get the signal to your secondary TV somehow (via wires probably because an RF signal will be even worse. And it won't be HD either.

Otherwise you could wait until Sky launch 'The Puck' and just use the internet in the second room.

Edit2: If you are running some RG6, do yourself a favour and run some Cat 6 ethernet cable at the same time.
