Hey there,

I've recently had to change the smartcard that goes into my MySky decoder. An unknown side product of this is that I can't watch anything that was already saved on the hard drive.

Anyone who knows me will know that there are a few news bloopers and breaking news events that I want to save from there before I have to delete the hard drive and start again.

Has anyone managed to access the content off the box's hard drive at all? I'd like to see if it's possible before I give up and delete all of that saved content.

Dan

Did you call Sky and ask them how you can view the recorded content with the replacement card?

If you can't laugh at yourself then you probably shouldn't laugh at others.

Indeed I did. They said it's not possible.

I've always understood the video was encrypted using the card that was present when it was recorded - so the same card is required to decrypt it.

It stopped working. It was a puzzle for all concerned. I think it had something to do with when I moved and Vodafone updated my account, but long story, this is where I ended up.

For both the recorded stuff as well as the Live content?

If the old card wouldn't work for the old content them unfortunately I think its gone....

Thanks, I knew about that already :) hope you landed okay afterwards. I guess Rachel's not around anymore then... (I used to work with her cousin).

It is possible. my friend who used to work for sky said ask for an IH hit to the card and it should come right.

At least I think he said IH, but he said it is totally possible.
